I made over 1.4MM since 2017 in crypto. After taxes I took home about 800k in 2017+2018.

Since then, I've spent all of 2018 traveling the world, eating at the best restaurants in the world, fucking tinder girls, dating some girls, fucking porn stars, etc etc. Spent about 300k so far on traveling.

I didn't invest in any property or stocks because I'm from sort of a wealthy family already, which is how I got the 90k in the first place to invest in crypto... seems like a life time ago. I still have about 140k invested.

Why are we alive? I'm really starting to wonder now. What is our purpose of being on Earth? Are we simply the segue into something greater?

I don't find life meaningless and I'm not depressed, but I've finally ascended to the top of maslow's hierarchy and I'm fucking confused as shit. I have enough money and assets in my name so that I can have a family and still never have to work again, which is good enough for me. I may eventually continue to work and build assets but right now I'm just trying to figure it out.

There are no more books to read, movies to watch, things to do. Nothing better to eat, nowhere awe inspiring to see anymore... I've literally done almost everything to do on Earth within reason (aka not been to insane drug fueled orgies, done weird cult shit, etc). People are the same everywhere, struggling, trying to find partners, trying to build lives... all the while I just have everything already and I'm 29.

I feel like I've been pulled out of time, and now I'm just an observer trying to rematerilaize onto Earth, and into society. I've had so much free time, and I think I've used it well... but it's only lead me to an unanswerable question. What is our purpose??

the post clicked for me because I am a person like he described. I am excited by advancing technology and how the world coordinates itself like an organism, I listen to classical music for hours everyday and feel very moved every time like I'm going to cry, I usually have moments where I look at myself and the world and honestly have no idea what any of it is. what is reality? Is life a product of quantum properties undiscovered that are undiscovered? WTF is a tree and life, and why does the universe exist, I have no fucking idea. If you think making it is having a lot of sex on a beach then you are truly an NPC without free will, governed by your basic instincts to survive that were necessary for all life to survive up to this point

I was kind of like you, not really though, I landed a great job and had a beautiful apartment in a major US city. It made me happy for awhile, but then stuff started to slide into monotony. Look up the Hedonic treadmill. Eventually I left that job, kinda burned out and just moved back in with family lol. Go figure. The depression is still here but I realized that having the paycheck and the apartment did not fulfill me in a meaningful way.

The top of Maslow's Hierarchy is not wealth or thrill-seeking. It is self-actualization - i.e., fully realizing your potential and becoming exactly who you have always envisioned yourself as being. Your wealth has nothing to do with your worth as a person. If you lost all of your wealth tomorrow, you would still have worth AS A PERSON.

Take a step back and really ask yourself what would make you happy. Mindless hedonism will not get you there. It will take meditation and thought. Some people want to set up house and start a family. Others desire to become scientists and do groundbreaking research. Still others wish to become artists and devote themselves to bettering their skills.

Think outside the box OP. It's all about you and whatever you think will bring you the most genuine happiness. You are lucky to have the means to pursue whatever your dream is. Don't spend it all on cocaine and die penniless in some gutter. You have an opportunity to live and I wish you the best of luck.

Try reading some philosophy OP. Its what got me out of depression on meaninglessness, and should get you over your boredom. Set a goal on a philosopher you want to read (Kant, Nietzsche, or someone with interesting ideas) and start reading what influenced them and what influenced those who influenced them. Then read their works. Did this working up to Spengler and feel like I've got a lot of answers to my old questions (and have a lot of new questions now.)
