1. it was the early 90s so anyone with two braincells and knowledge of computing could get hired at local engineering firms doing cad

2. a few months from people i talked to, it was quick

3. 2-5 years to become fluent

Unironically this. You can easily clear about 1000$ extra a month if you got some custom orders in. Theres a literal cash market in designing realistic cock and balls, although the next upcoming demand market is primarily in feet and forearm pits.
