Does anyone here make low effort games for small niches and put them on steam? The process nowadays seems pretty easy and you can have your game on steam within 30 days for a fee of $100.

Never tried, but thought about it, even downloaded Unity and Visual Studio, but the Unity aspect was too complicated for me (I can program though)
Just thought all the menus, buttons, and libraries were too much to remember. I spent like five hours trying to set up a guy and get him to move, and not fall through the floor.

I have never actually tried to make a game, but I have some basic programming knowledge. It looks extremely easy with the tools available. Have you tried other software, like unreal engine or something even more simple, like game maker?

That seems pretty high effort to me. How long does it take you to make one?

Like I said above, haven't tried it, which is why I'm asking here.
But there are lots of tools available that make it pretty easy. Besides, streamers like forsen and sodapoppin often give free publicity to absolutely terrible games if they fit a certain niche.

It seems a gamble. You make a game and pay a fee of $100 to put it on the market which means you must make $100 just to get even. I assume you won't price the niche game too high so in order to make $100, you will have to sell many copies. Either you know a good niche or goodbye for your cash.

There's RPG Maker, maybe make some weird hentai game or something. Sex sells

It is a little bit of a gamble, but $100 isn't a huge startup cost imo.
There are plenty of $1 hentai games on steam, not sure how well their sales do. Most seem to have at least a couple hundred reviews, so they probably have at least a thousand sales, which is decent profit.
