DNS is how domain names are translated into machine readable endpoints eventually an IPv4 or ipv6 ip.(when you go to Google it is how we tell you what server your browser should talk to)
Ntp is the time protocol that is run on thousands of voluntary nodes. Almost all servers participate in this network inadvertantly. It is how computers know what time it is.
Like these standards there will be a technical method chosen and widely adopted as a distributed ledger for transactional data. My opinion is that it is not possible with current technology to do it better than Nano and it will slowly become the standard.
The easiest onramp is freemium content , app devs can simply use Nano for their currency platform and players can create their own P2P economy for items while the devs sell shit from vendors for fractional amounts of Nano.
