I literally use Robinhood to grow my savings. I had about a grand in there a year ago. If I make a profit over the course of 30 days, whether $50 or $500, I sell and transfer to my savings account. If I don’t, I either let it sit or sell at a loss and throw it somewhere else until I’m in the green.

I make about $350 a month doing this, on top of having a day job. I don’t see the harm really, except taxes.

Nobody takes the messaging seriously. Every children's story is about not growing up. By the last book HP was just high fantasy adventure. Everything basically. I can't find it now but I read a really good op-ed about how the Harry Potter series inverts the mores presented in traditional children's fairy stories. A bunch of stuff about how rather than growing up and leaving the childish "magical" world, the characters in the series never leave and actually grow more embedded in the fairyland archetype as they age. Traditional fairy tales encouraged children (who interact "magically" with the world) to grow up and become "mundane", successful adults. It goes without saying the series teaches a horrible lesson about how every child is special, and we're all just waiting for a magic letter to take us away from the toil of the normal world into a fantasy zone. We're special! We're gifted! We deserve an invitation to hogwarts! We can all be the chosen one! It's a nightmare.
What also goes without saying is the series' handling of power structures and socioeconomic class. Can you think of a good guy in it who is wealthy? No, it's the impoverished Weasly family and abused orphan Harry who are de facto good. Then there's the race stuff! A lot of people focus on how it's a hamfisted holocaust metaphor, but I think it goes a lot deeper than that. The characters combating the Malfoy family and their "pureblood" status echoes continental theorists railing against "implicit whiteness". Not to mention that I'm pretty sure the Malfoy/Lestrange family in the books are a roman a clef for the Mosley family and all their pre WWII weirdness.

It's because of this. Look at the peaks after the initial drop off back in October. 2816, 2815, 2800, and today it smacked in to 2815 and started selling off. This is either a triple or quadruple top depending on how you tightly you want to define it. Very bearish. Since this was a good news day with the Trump extension on China negotiations (no March 1 tariffs), the S&P should have been able to break through this resistance. It didn't. Bears will be out in full force tomorrow to try to break some support levels if they can, see if some panic selling can be instigated. I plan to go short as well if bearish volume and sentiment is strong enough.
