There's supposed to be a swap from token burn to token inflation. This is because of legal concerns regarding securities as well as incentivizing use of the network rather than hoarding. However, users that lock their tokens into masternodes that act as witnesses and storage for data will receive a portion of that inflation so as not to devalue the node on top of their compensation for said storage.
