I used to think this but now, well life feels like it's worth living. I'm buying myself some nicer things now and setup is comfortable. I have nice things and I take good care of them.

My opinion has changed from "be a minimalist" to "have a home base and keep it very neat and clean and create a comfy den with a plethora of cool stuff for yourself" and this is exactly what I've been doing. If you are renting though or ever have any plans to move, then don't fucking do this.

This is kind of what I'm trying to say, even though I'm only 23. But I own my own house with a wife and a kid. So I have 1 nice den to myself and I no longer want to feel like I'm returning to a barren cave anymore. I want nice things to be comfortable in my space. If I were just some college kid renting a small apartment I would say minimalism is the way to go and that's exactly what I did. Fuck the TV. "Everything I live with should fit into my hiking backpack" was the way I thought as a college student. All my childhood stuff stayed at my parents' house, a kind of "home base," in boxes and I lived like that from 18 to 21 before getting married, buying my own home, having a kid, etc. 2017 was a hell of a year.

>owning unnecessary possessions
I have a bed and a laptop, some clothes, a bicycle, personal care items, a kindle, a phone, and an mp3 player (clip size), plus the bare minimum household items (one plate, one bowl, one pan, one saucepot, one teacup, a broom, a handful of utensils, some misc cleaning items). That's it. I sit on the floor or on my bed, I eat on the floor. Most of my floorspace is empty. I don't even need a dresser, just a fabric shelf from amazon for like $15.
Feels good man. OP pic is a whole lot of unnecessary shit. You don't need a fucking entertainment system, your laptop you already have can do everything, and you don't need a chair.
Furniture just creates a burden if you ever want to move, and it clutters your space. It's all unnecessary, you don't need tables and chairs. There's no difference between the floor and a table, it's a flat clean surface either way, but the floor is already there and is much more flexible a space. Chairs are stupid, you can just sit or lay on the floor.
And I'm being unironic.
Everyone who owns furniture has been brainwashed into thinking it's mandatory to buy and own that shit. Liberate yourselves from delusion. Materialism is a marketing scheme.
My clothes are all very nice and look great on me, but most are bought second-hand for very cheap. You can buy new-condition second hand clothing for dirt cheap. Like an $80 blazer for $10, and it looks and feels brand new. Many even still have the tags on them from materialistic faggots who shop and buy mindlessly and never wear half of it. Other than rent I have almost no expenses. I don't have a car, either. Just live close to downtown and you have a thousand ways to get around that don't mandate needing to spend tens of thousands and hundreds more a month on a vehicle.

Physical books are comfy. Looking at screens all day becomes straining. Book shelves add more character to your room. People will respect you and Thots will fuck you because you look smart.

It's an activity for uninteresting people that have nothing to do. Truly. I have raised and sold two businesses in the same town and I have never met a useful person at the bar. Plus when you have a nice apartment people (women) want to come drink there.

It's bluepilled frankly.
Just set your financial goals and follow them. Want to save $5000 a month? Save $5000 a month. The rest should be free for you to use.
Saving as much as you can not only negatively impacts your quality of life but also introduces chaos into your plans, and when that's in, it's very hard to get it out to sort your shit out again. Saving is easy when you have a plan and only then, you can't win with your ego, you can't win with core principles of human psychology.

You really can't enjoy going to a bar with some friends and burning some time socializing? I bring good company and the bar is social lubricant.

I guess if you're a complete introvert I understand. But even introverts I know have a good time out when we're surrounded with good company

Based and checked. autists don't understand social signalling. This signals "all I do is play video games alone". That's all I do too but my apartment doesn't look it since I have couches, a bookshelf, multiple chairs and tables - basically places to entertain, and fuck girls. With the setup in the OP you can't even watch a movie together. If you're trying to live a spartan and sexless life, that's fine but don't shoot up the place when girls are turned off.

Honestly I lived like this for a while but now just got redpilled that it's pointless.

You sacrifice and save for decades and then all of a sudden one day it could be pointless. You can drop dead. Your investments can go south, look at crypto. Look at the nikkei that still hasn't recovered from 30 years ago. There can be a massive war.

So now I splurge a little. Went from saving 75% of my income to about 20% now and I've never been happier. Frugal living is a depressing way to live if it isn't out of necessity and there probably just as good a chance it's all for nothing in the end as there is it paying off. Save, but don't go to extremes is the way I view life.

Reduce it to the simplest version of human existence and you’ll see moderation is the answer. We need food to survive, food only lasts for a certain amount of time after killing an animal. The more food we eat the more energy we have to kill more animals and the more muscle we gain to better hunt and kill more animals.

A banker, journalist, film producer, etc. will tell you to only eat the bare minimum you need when you kill an animal, but they will eventually fall behind the man who eats a moderate amount of food. Also the fatasses will tell you to eat every last bit because you do not know when the next opportunity to hunt an animal will be, but this excess takes a toll on your body and makes you sluggish.

Spend moderately, save moderately, and you will have a fulfilling life that is not governed by money. How foolish a man would have to be to let money dictate his life any more than absolutely necessary for survival.
