I quit my PhD in chemistry recently because I hated it, and didn't realize what a jobless shithole academia was. Now turning it into a masters thesis (2 years in), and learning the programming meme for the next six months.

Research stipend was cut off so I make a living on giving rich kids private tuition. Do an hour each weeknight evening, and 8 hours over the weekend. Charge 40 euro/h so have more disposable income than I've ever had, and have more free time than ever to persue what I'm actually interested in.

The supply and demand of tuition us so imbalanced in my city I could charge whatever I like.
