I wouldn't count on it. A lot of early versions of technology never get adopted.

Ethereum is like the car phone of crypto. A really useful precursor to what will actually explode. Its the first usable proof of concept for smart contracts and dapps. However its clunky and has serious problems and limitations.

Unless eth devs can transmute the existing Ethereum network into something better (in which case it won't be eth anymore..) It is doomed.

The only bright side is eth has more development than every other project combined. They very well may be the first ones to figure out how to make crypto easily adopted and used, and be the first to provide easy business solutions.

Good reply thanks. It does look like Ethereum is a nice proof of concept of smart contracts and what can come along are new projects that take those concepts but make them work without the problems Eth has. It couldn't scale for crypto kitties and why in the hell is crypto kitties a thing anyways? That is embarrassing that that type of dapp crashed the whole network and congested it. They have a lot of work todo to clear the blockchain and make it scale. The difference between 1980 and 2020 is we are hardpressed on having the best technology available asap. Teens these days are impatient and they aren't that impressed by new technology because new tech comes out very often and it doesn't build on what was released before it. I want people to not lose money and to have a great global economic system that is free of taxation and somehow we make it work. Decentralization is the hardest to install in today's world. The United States economy has to collapse to allow a new world reserve currency and that could be bitcoin, but Ethereum has a leg ahead because of how much more it can do. The ponzi has to die and true adoption has to occur. That isn't the focus of a majority of investors. They have their eyes on cashing out instead of staying in crypto and helping making it work for the world. I fear we have no way out of this and the inevitable destruction of the current state of cryptocurrencies is just a matter of time. We deserve freedom from taxation as taxes don't contribute to anything but in rich people's pockets. It doesn't pay off debt because the debt is what makes the money. Legal tender is a payment of debt and that debt are the goods and services we use.

We have no idea where the state of crypto will be in a decade. The current token systems and Bitcoin could pave the way for more improved cryptographic systems that are automated. Humans never have to touch a button and machines do all the work. It's coming. We don't need to be chasing moon missions. It's amazing how traders value crypto in USD when it's USD that we need to see die because it isn't backed by anything good but corruption.

the problem with smart contracts is that they create economic freedom. this type of freedom is not well understood. for example the first thing people do is recreate existing markets such as derivatives and gambling. but over time economic theory will evolve and the building blocks of smart contracts will consist of new distribution and value chains that are not modeled by any economic definition to date. literally dawning the 6th industrial revolution.

new economies are already created, others will come over time and have yet to be documented in a traditional sense. I think we will look back at this period as the "explosion of invention" a digital economic renaissance.

Obvious things such as the multi collateral debt contracts (Maker), tokenized real estate, and Moloch DAO are good examples of the change in economic models that are just starting to take hold in the upper echelon of digital society (https://www.theblockcrypto.com/2019/01/16/molochdao-coordination-infrastructure-for-the-common-good/))

But not so obvious ones will emerge with the help of extremely smart people that could make massive strides in economic situations for people around the world.

You make it sound exciting and it is. It is exciting what we are witnessing. We can have a digital age that is helpful to humans instead of controlling others using it. We have to use it for the better of mankind. I'd hate to see the 6th industrial revolution keep the poor poor and the rich at the top. It doesn't have to be equal, but it should be fair. It'd be cool if everyone had their own private and public blockchain that they used solely for their own purchases. They keep a record of what they have and hold as far as assets and their income. Distributed blockchains that use sidechains and crosschains to do interactions of sorts.
