CHEEESEEEEEEEE edition

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, stop making the general with trips, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

I dont like kellogs used to be a holder but they put supporting liberal wackjob policies ahead of business and I really don't like that they are selling off their cookie business. It's down now but there is a lot of potential value there and it synergizes enough with their operations that they should be able to unlock the most value out of it.

So I would sell terrible and incompetent management with no vision that barely scraped by cutting costs.

Round up on current holdings: dip buys on Cresco Labs yesterday and WTER today. A little bit riding long on crude oil. And a short on the Nasdaq 100 with 2x leverage. All the cash is set on disgustingly low limit buys unless/until the indices break bullish.

I tried out a new local bakery yesterday and bought an enormous loaf of rye. Having sammich with it now and god damn it's a tasty business.

No huge red-flags in their books - the vast majority of their liabilities are in outstanding warrants. They appear to have enough cash-on-hand to last until projected product launch in 2020. No debt either, which means they should have plenty of room to raise funds for production. Unfortunately, outside of their patents, they have no assets outside of cash yet.

Fundamentals look good from what I can tell. They've hit all of their internal milestones early or on-time, and completed a preliminary FDA step ~2Q earlier than they projected. They're planning on submitting their 510(k) and EU approvals by EOY. Been reading comments on the system itself from the surgeons who participated in trials - seems generally positive, but there's not a lot of them out there.

They also just cleared a price point at which a large amount of their warrants are in the money which - if exercised - would prevent the need for more equity funding

Cheers

They mostly sell snus and related products, but also meme cigars in the US and elsewhere (the kind you buy for blunts). But snus/snuff etc... in the Yurope markets are their biggest sources of revenue, and in that sense they're the PM et al. of that type of tobacco product (they have the largest snus marketshare).

Now tobacco in general is dying, but snus usage is in general increasing globally, and has some potential catalysts in the long-term future to increase it's growth. Snus has some weird trading regulations in the EU, because of americans trying to sell chewing tobacco there forever ago, so it's unironically more expensive for non-scandinavians to import it in the EU than it is for me as an american to import it to the US. The swedish government has been trying to get this changed, and has also funded plenty of medical studies on it (it was shilled by the govt as an alternative for smoking, and due to the way it's processed it doesn't have the same risks that american chewing tobacco does).

They have some snus products in the US (but they're garbage, mostly because they add artificial sweeteners for some fucking reason). But anyways, they've been trying to get FDA alternative tobacco product approval for a while and have been rejected before, so that is another potential catalyst. They do actually somehow have the majority marketshare for chewing tobacco in general in the US (but not snus/snuff lol).

There is also the fact that we have plenty of zoomers developing nicotine dependencies via vaping, which will only be more regulated with time, while nobody notices some pouch of tobacco in your mouth (no spit required). Chew is perceived as disgusting, but snus can be marketed differently.

Those are my thoughts as a long-term growth investment, but I'm also a degenerate who uses snus so idk. Also some meme big boys like Blackrock and Vanguard are invested in it.

Pulling numbers directly out of my ass, I think odds are better than 50% we're looking at a short term red period. That's why I have a short position on the Nasdaq right now. I don't know if the indices are going to retest 2018 lows or set up support somewhere above them. Is the stock market "recovery" running out of steam? More and more bearish news for the global economy keep hitting.

Doesn't seem like a trade deal or a lack of brexit or whatever would really avert a crisis. Only think I can think of delaying it is if FED stops reducing the money supply, like they're doing now with massive asset selloffs and the rate hikes.
China is trying to increase domestic liquidity, but will it really be enough? Consumer spending there is slowing a lot.

Powell faked out being dovish. The fed always does this since Bernanke. They'll talk about/raise rates and the market will chuck a hissy fit and drop 15%, and then the fed will delay.

Personally I think Powell knows he needs 5% leeway to cut when the recession officially starts, so he is trying to creep the overnight rate to 5% without triggering said recession.

The recession is inevitable based on the previous hikes now though.

>Wait, is day trading really impossible?

No of course not. It's still a viable trading strategy and there are many people all over the world who make a living off it. HFT and algos change the landscape somewhat but it doesn't prevent day trading strategies from working. I think the main mistake people make is thinking that it's easy, or that any particular school of thought on TA is 100% reliable. Good day trading is about the TA but also about having a strong grasp of the ways in which any particular sector tends to move, good instinct based on years of watching it and trading it, and of course solid statistically sound order placement strategies.

Devotees of the Buffett Long Hodl™ are very fond of loudly shouting at any short term trading that their strategy is unsound, impossible, stupid, claims that they CANNOT do what they're trying to do successfully, and that any gains made in the past were pure luck, that the broader market benchmarks CANNOT be beat etc etc.

There's nothing wrong with the Buffett Long Hodl but you do have to understand these are the kinds of ridiculous arguments they like to make to anyone willing and unwilling to listen at pretty well every opportunity for strategy discussion.

day trading is literally for retards, and when someone suggests it's a good idea they're signalling to the rest of the world just how retarded they are.

- day trading pays little to no attention the the actual fundamentals that drive share price (muh catalysts!)
- day traders outside of the profession are going off 15 min delayed quotes, so their TA strategies aren't even executed at the right prices
- they pay short term capital gains tax, which is one of the dumbest things you could do
- in most cases they incur trading fees upon entering and exiting the positions

these are not the ingredients towards a winning strategy. I bet most day traders don't even make up for all the taxable events they needlessly create
