The long strangle, also known as buy strangle or simply "strangle", is a neutral strategy in options trading that involve the simultaneous buying of a slightly out-of-the-money put and a slightly out-of-the-money call of the same underlying stock and expiration date.

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

You're welcome to think that. If you can stomach the lowbrow local offerings, you may well enjoy it. Enjoying a similar degree of amenities as is readily available in wealthier countries is going to be more expensive and difficult to obtain. In Thailand, specifically, the amount earned above ~$125k is taxed at 37%; so you're not getting huge savings there.

Take a look at the charts for the indices and compare against the period of time you have been in the market. You'll see clearly why you're down 10%. Longs who are up since October most likely sold when initial supports broke and bought back in shortly before or after the most recent low. Traders have been working with the volatility as per usual and should be making gains if their strategy is worth a damn through a combination of flipping oversold bounces, trading the VIX and inverse index ETFs, trading options, and shorting.

Your strategy is historically proven to be solid. It's a long haul strat though, and you have to be patient for things to work their way back to the long term rising trend. Cost averaging on index funds, using DRIP or manually reinvesting your dividends, waiting for compound interest to really kick in etc, is a several years kinda process.

That still sounds high.
The S&P's average yearly return is roughly 8.7%
Having dividends close to our beyond that shouldn't be sustainable -- if it was, people would buy the stock and inflate the price until the dividend yield (as a percentage of price) dropped below the S&P's growth rate.
On top of that being unsustainable, such high yields will most likely sacrifice long term growth, meaning that inflation will cut into your returns over time.

I think the optimal high dividend yield would be about 3% to 5%.
I think T is the most classic high dividend stock, but thanks to GE, it's obviously not a good idea to go all in on it.
Utilities companies otherwise are pretty popular and typical high dividend stocks

Also, your dividends on common stock can increase over time--If I recall right, Warren Buffett has an annual yield of over 100% on his Coke shares based on the price he bought at and the current dividend. Buying a high quality stock at a relatively low price, then holding it for decades while they increased the dividends every year is impossible? There's been numerous times to buy things like Proctor & Gamble and Wells Fargo in just the past few years, but you wouldn't hear about it here because the share price is above $0.00001.

Obviously that's not all he did; he used to engage in arbitrage opportunities and sell covered calls, too. Both of those are still possible in some form (but only statistical, volatility, and merger arbitrage are possible for non-HFTs these days).

the model was only using 2 and 10 year bond yield inversions, the one in 1998 was only between the 3 month and 5 year. That said there was a false signal in the late 60s I did take into account. It does do damage because of capital gains tax, but overall, it seems to be better to be safe than sorry. Hence I'm playing a defensive portfolio even though the yield curve only inverted from 1 year to 7 years. I still beat the market for 2018 so I feel fine.

i know
meanwhile, this is when EU bans DONT have all the red tape that burger banks have post dodd frank. theyre still massively overleveraged and havent recovered at ALL (cough cough DB cough)

combine that with all the civil unrest and this supposed bank run that could start as soon as tomorrow. and all the various demographics with growing resentment.
ive said it before: europe has a knack for turning into bloodshed absolutely overnight. i think we are closer now to such an outburst than the whole last century. especially given the added tension of not only internal problems in each particular country, but a EU-wide tension from every country together. add in demographic problems and racial tensions too and you got a bloodbath. i dont wanna see it at all since i have tons of friends over there, but unless you wanna get caught up in some serious shit, its time to head for open waters imo

Hmm, I might have missed it when setting up my model. Here are the dates I used: 1929.01 1967.01 1974.01 1978.11 1980.10 2000.03 2006.02

I would consider the inversion in 2000 as a separate inversion that you would want to stay defensive for. The issue is that the code I used for my model doesn't work when periods after a yield inversion overlap. That said, stocks were actually lower in March of 2000 than in June of 1998 so if anything this would mean higher gains if you were in bonds that whole time and didn't pull out.

Well it's ok if you miss the exact bottom so long as you get in before you get back up to where you left the market. I do think that as a rule of thumb, when you're actively managing these things, to wait a full year after the start of the crash to invest to let things settle and even start to recover if possible. The three years only works so well in the model because the average time between inversion is between 6 months and 2 years, so that 1 year later things have gotten to the point you're not trying to catch a falling knife.

keep an eye on those cunts. they are the weakest links in the chain. they will lead europe on the wy down. that should be your leading indicator for when shit is about to hit the fan

also tho, keep an eye on france
intl MSM and US MSM especially has been blacking it out since like week 3 but things are really heating up. i think france could be a catalyst if they get to the point where leaving the EU is the only option (its the only way i see it going if they cant totally subvert this protest (they cant))

they made a fancy acronym for southern europe? honestly all you got to know about the EU is that the relationship between north and south is almost the same as between north and south america. especially when it comes to debt crisis.

GBR for a long term investment until RAI starts doing something with it... they bought like 3 million restricted shares at 1.50 that will be subject to rule144 so they won't be able to dump anytime soon.....

Also check out DNR.. don't know much about it but I have some friends that seem to be getting interested in it for some reason

Speculate on SN.. they have a high short interest and the market cap is very very low so anything could happen with a quickness

speculation on MNGA because there seems to be a lot of pumpers around it...

CEI if they have gotten their shit together.. last i remember they sold off some assets to pay off some debts... lets see how that turns out for them.. could be interesting.

WHO HERE READY TO GET NIGGER FUKCED

>why do you guys say the n word all the time?
because we hate niggers like you because your demographic and posting style is poison and dilutes everything that imageboards are and stand for. imageboards are about contrarianism taken to an unhealthy degree. theyre also about lack of moderation and freedom of speech. as more of your nigger friends come over, the site is gradually turned to cater to your needs. the needs of someone who requires heavyhanded moderation and consensus to exist. this in turn causes most imageboard dwellers to leave because we dont like reddit or anything you faggots stand for, increasing this dilutive effect

THATS the problem. nothin personnel kid
also
PROTIP: never willingly admit youre from reddit, an absolutely NEVER let anyone here know something about you that they can make fun of (like your mugshot you just posted) or anything that youre insecure of.
