Maybe buy a second hand one, 5 to 8 years old. Bargain a bit so you get it just under market value hopefully, some rich persons usually needs to liquidate their assets to pay for unexpected shit. Have a year worth of fun in it, and by that time you can guage whether or not you would get extra enjoyment and personal (non dollar) value from a brand new late model one. If so, sell the second hand one at a smallish loss, if not, well youve already saved a huge amount of money going for the second hand one which will have a smaller depreciation gradient anyway since the first owner absorbed the brunt of the drive away value loss. he's basically right though: the most extreme ones don't even cost much. if the experience of insane speeds is what you're after, your best bet is an ~18.000$ (factory new) motorcycle that will accelerate faster than any lambo and make the same speed feel twice as fast due to everything being completely open

Actually the Lamborghini accelerates much faster than the bike because bikes have traction issues and if you accelerate too quickly the front comes up. Also a car can pull far more lateral G's due to having four wheels.

I used to ride until I got the money to buy fast cars. I see at least 1 motorcycle accident everyday in the ER. It's not a matter of if you will crash and become seriously injured, it's when. Especially if you do a lot of track days. Sure most of the time you just slide but it only takes one time for someone to run you over of you to high side or whatever and you're dead. Gear can only do so much

After owning a fast car I don't miss riding a bike at all.

Maybe you haven't anon. I've driven heaps of other peoples fancy cars and got over it before I could think about buying my own, I find no extra appeal, the comfort or enjoyment just seems like a meme to me, there is not any gains. One thing though that economy cars don't offer is a rifle bolt precision shift, but modern sports don't even feature an H pattern anyway so it's even worse. The only true purpose there can be is to appear rich, but in my country success is frowned upon so all that can happen is people talk shit and conspire behind your back, there is zero gain.

These vehicles are literally of inferior performance and quality to lower cost competitors, the retards will pay more on purchase, tax and maintenance because they think people look at them and literally believe they were in the elite club. This is even worse than high end which even though there is not practical purpose the higher grade elements do at least exist on the machine. lease the car that way you can get this desire out of your system. once you've had it for a year, the novelty will wear off, you can sell it. you also don't want to buy a sportscar that becomes ugly and untrendy 2 years after.

these cars are expensive as fuck to maintain, like $20k-40k is routine. they're for people who can afford to buy a new one every year.

if you even have to ask yourself if you can afford it, you can't. if you even have to think about maintenance costs in your budget, you can't afford it.

get a GTR or something, that's much closer to your budget.

My dad works as a pediatric doc. Has been one for over 30 years. Never bought a new car until about eight years ago.

Focused on safety, reliability, depreciation and insurance cost (mix the last two and gas for a per mile cost). Bought Fords mostly, then Honda and Subaru. Has millions saved up for retirement and unforeseen expenses. Able to help support multiple other siblings and his kids if something comes up.

Lives in a not so grand one story house with a basement that is fully paid off.

His focus isn't on finances, but smart financial spending allows him from being caught up in the "buy all the nice things" mentality I've seem so many doctors fall prey to. I'm surprised at how many doctors have relatively little savings with money in illiquid assets and some being stuck in unexpected debt after having a severe medical or malpractice issue that keeps them from continuing work.

I agree that renting and getting your fix in on occasion is the best approach. Save up money and when you have a cool million in liquid assets, then look into it. Also, pay off your house.

Smart about avoiding motorcycles. I've heard a good number of ER stories from when my dad and his doc buddies moonlighted there. 18 Wheelers and motorcycles are a dedly combo. Really, motorcycles in general.

>Why shouldn't I do this?
Trick question, you SHOULD do this. That way when your employer gets bought out, and you get laid off, and your car breaks down in 3 months, you'll be living out of your lambo.

You will never drive it properly unless you live near a track. Get an off-road rally car with a 500 HP engine, move to Utah and tear it up on desert roads in the middle of nowhere.

My dad's the smart guy.

I've tried the YOLO thing a couple of times in my twenties. Got close to dying more than once and almost ended up with a record another time. Ain't trying to make life any harder than it could be.

I'm good with not living that life at 30 anymore. Had some friends who never did give it up. They just keep chasing that adrenaline high and want more and more. Some died before reaching 30 and others are well on their way.
