>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Market data will show how significant the trade wars have affected exports/sells.

Agriculture is for sure in the red- especially onions, sorghum, oranges, seafood, pork, poultry and beef. Textiles are hurting- China targeted cotton. Coal is down. (China is now getting it from Brazil) Whiskey, crude oil, and car makers are all struggling

And these are just the numbers we've known for some time. The government shutdown means we don't have the market data since before the last two weeks of December.

Extreme cost cutting combined with slowing demand are big signs of profitability problems with near term consequences. With higher interest rates unexpectedly bad profit can potentially lead to defaults, which in a highly leveraged industry like auto could cascade.

The auto industry is probably the biggest threat to financial stability right now, better pay attention closely.

There was an academic article somewhere, it'd take me some time to find it again, but most of the high growth of Pinochet's chile came from the recover of all the crises he caused.

I should also note that he was forced to re-nationalize several mines after those boneheaded Chicago school policies didn't work out.

Bolsonaro has also repeatedly made admiring comments about a number of other Latin American dictatorships. He praised Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori as a role model for his use of military intervention via self-coup against the judiciary and legislature.[11] In a 1998 interview with Veja magazine, Bolsonaro praised the Chilean dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, and said the Pinochet regime, which killed over 3,000 Chilean citizens, "should have killed more people".[109

This is what a lot of the investor optimism boils down to about Bolsenaro, he'll institute these neoliberal policies and private investors will make a fortune as a result, even though those same policies will causes crisis not to far down the road. He himself has repeatedly invoked the legacy of other anti communist dictators, the signal to investors is clear, he'll be on the side of capital not labor.

Regardless, I think even those mid-term hopes will be dashed because he'll be too incompetent to implement a coherent agenda.

Probably not, I did some DD and it looks like the company is very very very small. Their acquisitions are literally corner shops lol. I checked them on Google Street View, they're stores you and I could have probably bought out. Their financials are absolutely garbage atm. There is also a massive liability in the "other" category on the balance sheet. I couldn't figure out what it was. The company is just far too small to do anything. They also keep fucking with the price of the stock via direct offerings. They restructured in November, I'm assuming it is because of the risk of being delisted. Cool company and idea, but I'm not sure how they pull it off in 180 days.

I think you should consider for a moment what it means that capitalism is exploitative beyond the ethical implication.

Consider these facts. Generally speaking it means that the wealth of the capitalist class, all else equal, will increase as the productivity of labor increases, when the working day increases, when workers are paid less. The wealth of the worker increases when workers are paid more, have a shorter work week, but also when the productivity of their labor increases. This is because being able to produce things more efficiently decreases the real price of a good (this is uncontested no matter what theory of value you're using). But this increase in productivity through introducing new labor saving technology, while increasing the capitalist's wealth in absolute terms, also decreases it as the rate of profit. This is because now the capitalist must spend more of their into this technology and capital to remain competitive. Hence we see a secular falling rate of profit, one that encourages risk taking for investors who still have more and more money to invest, thus market valuations and private ownership as a method of economic coordination to behave more irrationally.

Also, praxeology is fucking stupid, you can't pretend to understand economics via purely abstract axioms completely divorced from empirical or historical observations.

>> No.12412172

I'm 11 minutes in and he's completely misconstrued Marx's argument about exploitation. It is not simply that laborers are paid less than the output prices of the goods made, it's that laborers are not being paid at all in accordance to what their labor produces, rather they're being paid in accordance to the worth of their labor power, which is determined by the costs of the resources required to sustain and reproduce that labor power. If you are a worker you're being exploited not because you're being paid to the value of half of the things you're creating, but because you're for the value of the work abstracted from all of the actual production. The market value for a given amount of work, when skill is not taken into account, isn't the value of the goods that work can produce or half that value or any ratio of that value. It's the value of the things those laborers need to survive.

Hoppe's thesis completely misses the point of Marx's critique, if workers could wait for more money down the line without selling their labor power then we wouldn't have to worry about any of this. The issue is that workers must do something to survive, they must sell their labor power to survive. It's also patently absurd to consider profit as another form of interest on savings. What determines the magnitude of profit is not the amount of time you commit to putting your money into capital, rather it's extent you effectively utilize inputs. It's how long the laborers work for however amount of pay with however much output per hour ect. Hence exploitation is the best description of what's going on. The amount of capital and labor employed, far from Hoppe's suggestion, also isn't restrained by how much the capitalist wants to consume, either. He can take out a loan or get other investors to take part. But what ultimately restrains it is how much output is demanded by the market, and the productivity restraints on capital and labor.
