The "safest" way if you are actually intelligent is to do med school, you'll be guaranteed a $250k salary after you finish residency.

CRNA is a nurse anesthetist, usually working under an anesthesiologist and performed sedation, intubation and stabilization of patients in the operating room. It's pays well but it's also boring as fuck and most of them only do anything at the start of the surgery and then sit at the head of the patient reading for the remaining hours of it. Being a nurse practitioner is more lucrative and more interesting for the nurse route. Or you could go into nursing education for a private university.

Most of the “generic” DS jobs are being automated as we speak (look at Alteryx) leaving those with strong domain (biology / finance) and qualitative component. Medicine is actually highly qualitative applied science field. More qualitative a field is,lesser it is prone to automation. Marketing is both qualitative and quantitative. Yes, I have switched to qualitative field after SoftDev/DS both looked BS too me at a ground level inside corporations. If you can secure research oriented (highly competitive) jobs in these fields (CS/ML/AI) go for it. But it’s a risky career. I love math/stat but now I do it as a hobby or side thing (sometime I do algo-trading). The biggest issue is falling in love with a quantitative field with our semi-autistic brains. More qualitative you can be, experience will play more critical role that will not decay with age and you will be able to erect a kind of competitive advantage. Getting a CFA is another option to move to long term equity research areas (may start with quant with your stat/math background but again move out from quant areas as you gain experience in investment field and pursue CFA or FRM). That’s just my opinion, you have to do your own research.
