bitcoin is working just fine without unscalable base-layer privacy. with second layers with privacy features the base layer quickly becomes fungible for end users anyway, as almost every transaction becomes a closed loop on those second layers.

and alts just can't be sound money, because alts are dependant on tech. new privacy tech comes along and monero loses a huge amount of it's interest/value. monero's fate is tied completely to it's tech, which is clearly not the case for bitcoin.
