South Carolinian here. It depends. We have a lot, I mean A LOT, of niggers, but that's because niggers used to be for sale here. The store "closed down" per se but there's still lots of errant inventory causing trouble.

The living cost is insanely cheap. Low gas taxes, low food tax, and you can get an Antebellum historic property for less than ~$80 a square foot.

The beaches here are where they filmed the Forrest Gump Vietnam scenes if that gives you any idea of what the coast looks like. Low country food is also delicious -- you'll be a lardass like us in no time. If you like history there's Charleston so you can visit and feel like you're still in Europe if you'd like. Also while not in South Carolina, Savannah is nearby which is cool. Above us we have Charlotte so if you want to see a bunch of new money bankers from Ohio pretend they're rich and cultured you can be a part of that.

There are some shitty places and some nice places but if you're looking to be left the fuck alone and do whatever while living cheaply and near some beautiful beaches and mountains then the Carolinas are a good choice.
