Golden Cowgirl Run!

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease) is a very common and often symptomless disease caused by the buildup of fat in the liver. In some cases, people with NAFLD will develop NASH (Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis), in which inflammation and liver cell damage are present in addition to the buildup of fat in the liver. In its later stages, people with NASH can develop fibrosis (scarring) in their livers, which can in severe cases progress to liver cirrhosis, an extremely serious and life-threatening condition. The NASH market is forecasted to be worth $20-$35 billion dollars by 2025, and most large players in the NASH space (MDGL, ICPT, VKTX, etc) are focused on treating fibrosis and preventing progression to cirrhosis. One example of a company focused primarily on treating cirrhosis, however, is GALT.

>> No.12258289

FUCK bears

>> No.12258292

GALT's sole competitors in the NASH cirrhosis space are CNAT and Gilead. CNAT missed primary endpoints in its most recent clinical trial, and Gilead's NASH drug has shown mixed results in clinical trials. GALT's primary drug of interest, GR-MD-02, works by inhibiting the action of galectin-3, a molecule implicated in a wide variety of diseases, including NASH, cancer, fibrosis, endometriosis, and asthma. In a phase 2 clinical trial of GR-MD-02 for the treatment of NASH cirrhosis, GR-MD-02 showed a statistically significant and promising effect in the reduction of hepatocyte ballooning (occurs when hepatocytes, a type of liver cell, increase in size and then explode and die) and in preventing the formation of esophageal varices (enlarged veins in the esophagus that can rupture and cause life-threatening bleeding). It did, however, miss its primary endpoint in the reduction of HVPG (hepatic venous pressure gradient). This may have occured due to an error in trial design. Per recently published FDA guidelines, phase 2 NASH clinical trials should last 12-18 months, which GALT's trial did not. Additionally, its effects in the reduction of hepatocyte ballooning and preventing the formation of esophageal varices were promising enough that GALT has moved onto Phase 3 clinical trials in NASH. In addition to NASH, GR-MD-02 has shown promising results in the treatment of melanoma and head and neck cancer, significant increasing Keytruda's response rate in a recent combination trial. GR-MD-02 is safe (producing little to no significant side effects) and relatively inexpensive to produce (being derived from apple pectin).

Oh, he's absolutely smarter than he appears. The man's whole career is based around looking like a reckless buffoon who succeeds in part because people keep buying his bluff. Several times in his real estate career, he beat out other bids on property because others thought the project was unrealistic.

The tricky thing about this stint in politics is other world leaders believe his shit almost too much. They freak out a little and lash back, markets freak out, then things go quiet for a while and miraculously a deal emerges. I thought the way he handled the NAFTA negotiations was great. He came out of those with a much better deal for the US.

I agree. I don't think The Donald is an especially good politician or president for this reason. There are lots of tricks to governing that he just doesn't know. A lot of rakes experienced politicians know to avoid that he just blindly steps on.

The thing I do think is 100% positive about his presidency is that he will, for good or ill, be a huge catalyst for change in the US. Used to be it felt like you were voting for different flavours of the exact same shit no matter which side you chose to put your checkmark on. That will not be the case in future elections. Ideologies are splitting and perhaps a strong third party will emerge in the US in the next, i dunno, ten or twenty years or something.

A floating rate means that the interest rate or return rate changes along with market interest rates. The other alternative is a fixed rate which pays out the same regardless of changes in the market--although the market will discount securities if rates rise (meaning that the price will fall, resulting in a higher yield because yield and price are inversely correlated). In other words, if you own a bond with 2% yield and the rates rise to 3%, it means that the bond price fell until the yield reached that point and new bond issues will be issued at that rate.

So if you expect interest rates to rise, you'll have a degree of interest rate protection if you own floating rate assets as opposed to fixed rate because the payout will increase, too.

Militias, private armies, large families, ect ect. There are rational reasons to avoid a hobbsian state of nature, first and foremost that there's always a bigger fish. Hello /smg/

I just reduced my holdings to 75% cash. I will go into 100% cash on friday.

My hypothesis is that we are heading into a recession with the possibility of the president being impeached, just like Watergate where the markets dropped 50%.

The government will be shut down until his impeachment is over. That will only make the recession worse. Tarrifs will go to 25% shortly. China will crash. They won't need planes from Boeing or phones from apple. Those stocks will fall hard.

Who knows that other distractions Trump will create to change the narrative. This is not a good market.

With trumps impeachment, the markets will price in a dem sweep in 2020. Tax cuts will be repealed. The Dow will be at 17000.

The only question is, do I have the balls to short?

Lol retard nobody can predict what will happen, but you're right that things aren't looking good. Well they really haven't since 2015 or so. In times like this where there is rampant overvaluation, you have to be willing to sit out.

The last time I bought a large amount of stocks was in February 2016 when bank stocks were coming off their bottom. They were so cheap and rate hikes were about to begin. Great time to purchase as I sold off most my bank shares in 2017-18 at 100%+ gains in most cases.

We really haven't seen many sectors on sale in 2018. Maybe be ready to buy some Apple at <$140, but otherwise I haven't seen any stocks truly worth buying where the future outlook is positive and they're trading at low "historical" valuations.

Your best bet is probably merger arbitrage at this point. Most top value investors (Klarman, Buffett) have done a lot of merger arbitrage recently.

>In the United States, the term Nifty Fifty was an informal designation for fifty popular large-cap stocks on the New York Stock Exchange in the 1960s and 1970s that were widely regarded as solid buy and hold growth stocks, or "Blue-chip" stocks. These fifty stocks are credited by historians with propelling the bull market of the early 1970s, while their subsequent crash and underperformance through the early 1980s are an example of what may occur following a period during which many investors, influenced by a positive market sentiment, ignore fundamental stock valuation metrics Most have since recovered and are solid performers, although a few are now defunct or otherwise worthless.

So I have three day trades and pdt. I bought options and my account on the same day went up to 30k (well above the requirment to be allowed to pdt). I went to sell because I’m not an idiot and risking losing the gains selling next day (next day market went in opposite direction would of lost it all). Problem is robinhood logged that trade even as my fourth day trade even tho I did it when my account was over 25k and now I have a 90 day ban on all purchases so I just have my money in robinhood doing nothing. I messaged them four times and got no response.

Am I in the wrong here? Why did my fourth day trade cause me to have a purchase ban if I did it when I was over 25k. Why is my pattern day trade now lifted but I’m still blocked from all purchases

NMM.. the O/S has been growing but the float has been shrinking!! something fishy is going on there.. i got some shares of NMCI for holding a small amount of NMM.. made bank on NMM.. still holding onto some and plan on adding for the next 6 months... if you go through their filings for the past 1-2 years you'll see some strange shit.. someones been loading up on common stock through the back door.. pretty sure they're now loading up through the front door.. their avg i think was around 2.00 but if they're averaging out they could be around 1.50 now..... either way.. they haven't dumped their dilutive shares into the float.. they're still sitting in the o/s and NMM is paying a very nice dividend in which they just started back up... huge growth potential.. also huge pump and dump potential...... I'll be adding as long as the divi stays the same....

MSFT - Extremely strong, good dividend growth, very low volatility compared to other growth stocks.

TSLA - Bought some early on when it was at 40 when their only car was the roadster, and recently bought some more at 250 in october, still very happy with it and that's unlikely to change. The car business is doing all right, but as an engineer I think the single biggest revenue source in ten years will be grid storage.

Albermarle - Lithium demand will explode in the next decade because of EV's and Li-Ion grid storage and there's more than one way to profit from that. This company has exclusive rights to lithium mining in Chile, and is preparing for a massive production scaleup for the anticipated demand. This will be a growth company.

Paypal - Very strong performance so far, Venmo is becoming ubiquitous, revenue will go up when they start monetizing it. Might buy a small amount of Square just in case it steals that market.

YY - Doubles EPS every two years. Undervalued with market cap at 1.5x cash reserves and a P/E below 10, largely because of fear that it'll face competition from TikTok, but the latter isn't a direct competitor at all. Just struck a deal with Xiaomi to preinstall its app on every Xiaomi phone.

NVidia - Excellent growth, currently at a relative bargain and doesn't seem to be overvalued.

Microsoft should be considered a value stock, not a growth stock. It's spike in price since 2016 has been partially based on a speculative tech bubble and it'll likely return to such levels after a crash.

Tesla will probably loose it's liquidity and profitability in a crisis and become bankrupt. It's technical know how and physical assets all bought up in the process.

Albermarle's lithium business might be going well and will probably do well in the future, but it's fracking and biofuel related division will probably not do so great as the supply of cheap substitutes increases and demand falls.

Paypal could work out but the market is already saturated as is.

YY is also viable but will probably sink with a slowdown in chinese markets more generally.

NVidia is probably overvalued due to general speculation in the tech sector and the demand driven by speculative bitcoin mining that has recently become unprofitable. It also faces stiff competition as it tries to enter the AI and autonomous driving sectors.
