I know that feeling, I got denied when I applied for the Christmas week off in May, turns out it's because my boss is going to Italy for the week. Instead I get to work all week, and the reason I wanted the week off was because my parents are paying for the whole family to fly down to Flordia, they are going deep sea fishing and staying at a resort in Disney World and here I am stuck in front of a desk while practically everyone else in the building is on vacation, I want to quit so badly right now but I can't ruin my career.

The situation sucks, but not enough to lose this job over, I just got my Christmas bonus of $20k, well more like 14 after taxes, and I have a pretty good shot at a higher level job next year, but the pay and benefits of this job are too good to pass up, not to mention all the opportunities that I'm not going to give up on just for a single missed holiday.
