I'm a totally tech noob but I want to refuse the famous FUD "How can chainlink flip ETH price if Chainlink is a erc20 token so it "lives on eth blockchain".
But isn't coding all made using layers and layers of already existing code?
Like if i recall correctly macOS was created on top of unix (or something like that...) but nobody will ever say "Apple will never surpass the company who made unix because of that"

wow retard, an ICO is just a token hosted on the ETH blockchain, it has nothing to do with the chainlink framework, and code.

has nothiong to do with ETH...creating a token is fucking easy, it takes like a few hours to setup on the ETH blockchain...

if you want an analogy to macOS built overUnix, then you can rather compare that to Chainlink built on top of TownCrier

infact many oracle providers were planning to use town crier to implement their oracles, because it was an independent project made by an university research team.
but unfortunately, sergey acquired Town Crier...so any fucking oracle provider wanting to come challenge chainlink will have to write everything from 0 or ask chainlink to use town crier, which wont happen.

so sergey literally cornered the whole oracle market by owning town crier...

on the fact that chainlink is blockchain agnostic, the team had to choose a blockchain to host the tokens on, and a reliable platform on wich staking could be done, and the most reliable and wor'king right now is ETH.

so in order to run a chainlink node you need the ETH token, but once chainlink is mature, they will implement Oracle smart contracts on any blockchain, so those blockchains can also use the oracle network. but there is a difference between, an oracle smart contract hosted on any blockchain, and staking wich happens on the ETH blockchain

i remember back in 2017, my only concern was that town crier was doing the heavy lifting, cheanlink was just a system built over it.
And back in the day I remember asking myself if I should all in or not, because any other company with enough funds could in theory build something over town crier.
The last bit of my doubts was lifted this october, and best thing is, retards actually dumped, and was actually able to upgrade my position for cheaper than last year...
