>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Tomorrow has to be green. Too many traders are going to buy the S&P double bottom. It is extremely rare opportunity to get a shot at a potential major index double bottom this significant. Nevermind the economy and politics, it's gotta be green on technicals alone for that reason.

Wednesday depends on the Fed.

I really don't understand why people think the market is overvalued.

The Dow is currently 24k, which stands at a 100% increase over the peak before the last recession 10 years ago of about 12k.

During this time:
- inflation at an average of 3%/yr would have eaten about 40%
- US population growth takes away another 10%
- US GDP growth is about another 30%

So basically the market is "overvalued" by about 10%. Not what I would call a bubble.

>> No.12150223

Here's the thing though. Is it better to try to catch the falling knife now, or is it smarter to wait until after Christmas/New Years? We're gonna have lower volume through the next few weeks with the exception of scared people looking to sell and get the fuck out of the market. People who are thinking this is a buying opportunity might be waiting for an even better dip to buy on, like post New Years, but depending on how long we wait the shit could fall through the floor. Its a delicate situation and something needs to happen to slow the bleeding down but not stop it entirely.

His choice will probably be influenced one way or another behind closed doors by Trump tomorrow because the state of the market is probably eating away at him in the back of his mind. The bleeding will either ease or stop and we'll see ridiculous volatility into 2019 where things swing between 270 and 250 repeatedly over week long periods. The volatility will continue to get worse and the range the pendulum swings will slowly increase to a point where the PPT pulls the lever and everything gets frozen (probably on the up side of 260), or shit spirals out of control and we actually crash. We're going down, but theres no way we actually just consistently fall by 500 points a day.

They wont be using lube once they break out that 3% ROI on the savings accounts while keeping trades commission free. It doesn't take a genius to realize what the next step for RH is so that they can actually follow through on that 3% promise. Everyone's getting trade raped in 2019 and any rules they may have had before regarding playing nice with all of us are going to have to change.
>>12151937
Depends on your perspective regarding the cut, honestly. 3% clearly beats out just about every bank. But that interest has to come from somewhere, and unlike a bank, RH isnt in the business of making loans or charging commission on trades. The 3% is for sure worth it, so long as you realize what cost it comes with.

True. You'll be a much better trader if you can get over this. Every gain and loss, whether realized or unrealized, is real. Whether you choose to hang around in the same stock hoping to make back what you lost, or sell it and re-enter at a better point in the chart or enter something else entirely, the loss is the same and you must hold an equity that rises the sufficient value to achieve break even point regardless.

This also extends to the tendency to play riskier with newly collected gains. Meaning, letting things ride way too long just because "it's all profit at this point anyway". No. That is money you have and are now gambling with. It's bad risk management and shit trading.

Hey Faggots,

My name is Jerome, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are poor, retarded, degenerates who spend every second of their day looking at stupid ass charts. You are everything bad in the the economy. Honestly, have any of you ever gotten any dividends? I mean, I guess it's fun making fun of people because of their gambling addictions on weekly options and chinese scam stocks, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than buying BGFV at $9.50.

Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shorts. I'm pretty much perfect. I am Chair of the Federal Reserve of the United States, and hand picked by President Trump. What investments do you make, other than "buying the LCI dip because of muh share structure and epic short squeeze"? I also get mad gains, and have a banging hot interest rate (I just did some rape hikes; Shit was SO crash). You are all faggots who should just liquidate your portfolios and apply for a job at McDonald's. Thanks for listening.

Maybe wait to sell until things revert to the mean, we can probably see at least a 3% bump before things go downhill completely. Set standing limit order sells for prices you feel would be acceptable losses.

if you're going to rely on your investments for your income, you're going to need to focus your portfolio on fixed income investments anyway. This means you should probably buy some T-Bonds and TIPS, as well as maybe agency debt. With these and high yield CDs you can expect around 3-3.5% interest payments. Considering where monetary policy is heading that's probably the most anyone can hope for.

Dividend heavy mutual funds are also your friend here, and are an easy way to diversify.

Well they're pretty easy to get, you just need an account at Treasury Direct. https://www.treasurydirect.gov/

Although, if you were to put it all into a fixed income mutual fund you'd probably get around a 3.75-5% dividend max, so that'd be around $1000 a year at your current investment levels.

I think your best strategy is to try to sell most of your stuff, put most of it in safe assets that generate a passive income, and some into things like a silver etf to hedge against the market long term. Once the market crashes, move the money into blue chips, dividend stocks and index funds.

Regardless of what you do with your investments, though, I think you should try to find another job anon especially while the job market is still good. You really need about 10 times that amount to live off your investments and it's difficult to grow your investment if you're using all the dividends to feed yourself.

I believe you can do it, anon. Don't give up just yet.

Not to mention that the wall is close to unrealistic. It took the chinese with slave labour and shit 2000+ years to build their wall over and around mountains, through forests, etc etc. Even with our modern tools and easy transportation of equipment/materials it would take WAY longer than Trump's potential 2 terms in office.. so if a democrat wins (or a republicuck) the work on the new wall would just halt instantly render the battle for the wall useless either way.

Also, Trump could have done so much more if he actually wanted to. He controlled everything, a majority in both the house, the senate and obviously himself in the white house where he could sign any paper that was sent to him. But now he's fighting with democrats and their majority controlled house over bullshit he could have passed earlier this year with ease.
Trump successfully transformed into a politician, he's now playing the political game rather than pushing changes in hope of blaming his political enemies in the election years away. I would actually be kind of shocked if democrats manage to lose in 2020, but then again.. they are close to retarded themselves so who knows.
