Alright /biz/, I have 4.5k in the bank and I'm looking to invest it in the riskiest but most profitable way possible within 1-2 weeks. I don't care if I lose the money overnight. But I also would like the possibility of at least getting 1.5x back.

with 4.5k you couldve bought some netflix options. 4 in the money calls and 4 in the money puts. after they reported earnings your 4 puts would by in the money by $17 and you couldve sold them for 6800 total. Your 4 in the money calls would be worthless and you would just let them expire.

warrants? are you a bounty hunter?

Honestly OP none of the ideas in here are as likely as taking your money to the roullette wheel. If youre looking for 50% profit in a week thats your best bet. 64% chance is better than a coin flip and certainly better than putting it on some meme stock or forex trade

Depends on your broker. I'm Australian, and I use NAB, and the application process for warrants trading was just a few clicks.

Though, I still haven't applied for options trading because: An options trade is twice the price of a warrants trade, which is the same cost as any other buy/sell; I have to fill out and physically mail an options trading form and fuck that.

Yep. I bought a Citibank CBA call warrant with a ~68.88 strike when the underlying was 70. Including the premium, this was $3 a warrant. A week later CBA was 75 and I sold the warrants back to Citi at $7 a pop.

Warrants are a lot riskier than options though: With warrants, if the underlying hits the strike, your position closes, you lose all your money, game over. Also, the strike increments each day. For my warrant, this was at a rate of 9%p.a. So the day after, the strike went from ~68.88 to ~68.9. So, if the underlying doesn't move, you lose money incrementally.

Those are also the two ways that Citibank makes money from issuing warrants.

But, it's the price you pay for liquidity.

same as options with time decay. also if option becomes worthless you just let it expire and lose whatever you paid for it

>> No.1208185

>>1208173
I actually hadn't considered the time decay part of options. I've never traded options before so I don't know as much as I probably should about them.

But at least with options if the underlying passes the strike unfavorably you still have a chance that it could recover before expiry.
