How do you guys deal with working 60+hours/week?

I'm an electrician and i'm working about 65h/week. It's nice to see that your work pays off but i have next to no social life and i sometimes feel like my body won't hold up much longer.

I work 70 - 80 hours a week and, although it's very busy, it's doable (mainly because I fucking love what I do). The thing is though, my work is pretty much non-physical beyond walking around in the lab so I think that might be your problem senpai.

I think that shit is retarded. For a few years it might not be able to be helped, but eventually I want to move to 30 hr/week, and I also want to retire at 40. The point of living is to live, not to work. Work is just a means of getting money.

Our ancestors fought and died for a 40 hour standard workweek, and their sacrifice has been allowed to erode away. If you have enough work that it takes 60 hours a week per worker, hire more workers. Anything over 40 should be illegal.

I don't deal.
I'm basically a zombie at this point.
I work. I drive. I eat. I work. I drive. I work. I dont' sleep. I work. I repeat.
I dont' have time to spend what I earn. I wouldn't know what to buy if I did. I don't have the energy to think about it.
I think I'm pretty good at my job, but I'm doing this on automatic at this point.
I would be amazing to go home at 5pm, have the weekends free. But I think that way of life is gone.

It is because you allow it, time to make a drastic change or take a risk. Don't kill yourself for someone else bc they will always take as long as you keep giving. The only advocate for you is you, period.

This is why I am staying self employed for the rest of my life. There are times when it's feast or famine but at least I can relax when I need to. If I'm sick I don't have to work through it or if my family has an emergency I don't have to worry about asking a boss to let me take a day off, I just can.

Money is one part of freedom, time is the other. It's good to balance them or you will become a slave to one and never achieve true freedom.

Usually, I administer my bank and brokerage accounts during those 5 hours a week.

Yeah, I respect what you're doing man, but you are fucking yourself.

You are literally killing yourself.

Get out now, and start a business. It's your only hope.

>> No.1206228

starting a business is a good idea if you're a journeyman and you have lots of experience. if that's not an option, manage your downtime well. if you're like me, you work tons and then you don't cook and your nutrition suffers so you stop working out, etc. it snowballs.

meal prep--batch cook shit, I like rice and chicken curries, super easy.
swim--good for those sore knees of yours, also doubles as a post-work shower.
take swaths of time off in the down season--winter time, go bugger off to thailand for two months.

generally manage the small stuff, and try to eat well/keep your body healthy.

How will starting a business change anything? OP will just be working the same hours except for himself now. It's not like the jobs will pay much more.

Enjoy that burn out.
Might not happen now, but it will happen eventually.

For awhile I was working tons to make dosh too.

I've gotten to a point where quality of life > $.

I'm happy working my 40-45 hours a week now.

Life is short famalam.
