>Switched major back to engineering after doing business for a year
I'm a CNC setup guy and partial programmer as my job. I never liked engineering and I don't think I'm particularly good at it (got the job through my father for 30 hr/week) but after reading all the stories on /biz/ about the corporate life of finance/accounting, I'd rather work in a field that I don't really like but pays decent and requires physical exertion instead of sitting in a fucking cubicle all day, dealing with faggy ass co workers.

You are 100% correct my guy. Being a public accountant is the worst life mistake anyone can make.

I washed out of premed and am now in my school's highly regarded accountancy program. What exactly am I in for anyways?

I was thinking about going into personal finance moreso than accounting. I don't like engineering that much, I was always good at math but that's about it. Just the way biz describes working in a corporate office sounds like absolute hell to me.

So first things first. I work for big 4 and am making 38k/year... The average house in my city is 650k. And the prospects don't get much better after that.
After getting my CPA I expect to be making around 45k/year.
Managers make around 60k/year
Sr manages make 70-80k/year.
Partners make 200-300k/ year.

Alright maybe you think you can wait it out and become partner and be making that sweet 300k/year.
Well at my firm the average partner is 63/years old.
5% of partners are 30-35
20% of partners are 35-45
So if the general chance of becoming a partner is around 10% the chance of becoming a partner before 45 is 25% of 10%...

Work wise you'll be expected to work 10-14hr/day during busy season.
After busy season you will be working 8 hr days and spending 4hrs after work studying.
Plus if you want any chance of being promoted you have to attend all unpaid staff functions and spend even more time with your coworkers.
I made the mistake of skipping one of these and received passive aggressive comments from the HR lady and my coworkers all day.

Jesus fucking Christ
I'd honestly rather just do setups for $22 an hour, that sounds fucking horrible. Have you thought about doing something else?

So more about thous coworkers. About half of you coworkers will be really cool and you genuinely enjoy spending time with them. This is good news because you will be seeing these people for about 12 hrs a day. The bad news is that 45% of these people will quit in the first year after doing the math on the money. Now the other 50% of the people are frat bros that grew up rich. They lack and life experience and this is their first job outside of working retail in the summers between semesters. These kids have zero loyalty and will step on your neck for that raise from 38k/year to 38.5k/year as this is alot of money to them. Having no life experience they have drunk the public accounting kool aid and think they are big shots doing million dollar deals when in reality they are just pencil pushers sitting in their cubicles. They lack any basic business or personal finance knowledge and are drowning in debt and credit card payments. They will make you want to kill yourself and dread coming into work within 1 month.

I've been working with my dad on the side flipping houses and real estate and we have saved up enough down payment for a 3 million dollar property so we are currently looking at a few properties. I hope to hand in my resignation within 1.5 months.

If we cannot find a property in this time I will still resign and just work labor/ party for a couple months until I can close on a property.

Good for you man. My cousin worked in personal finance. He made very good money but I think he hated his career because of the hours and the commute.

Thanks man, I definitely don't don't recommend that accounting route. It will burn you out just as much as premed except there is no money at the end of it. Honestly the only way to make money is to have money. Try to purchase and flip houses or leverage your parents house if its paid off to purchases commercial real estate.
