Post-apocalyptic scenario, bullets are the currency. Food, medicine, water all that is necessary for survival. Yet, once the new farms start growing and clean water flowing again it's guns that will protect them.

Forget interstellar war. Just take a long enough power shortage due to a solar storm. Most nodes are in third world countries that have insecure power nets.

If you own a few nodes it would be perfectly possible to end up in control of a large enough fraction to be able to doublespend as much as you want during said blackout.

You can fashion a longbow and arrows out of trees for nothing. If farm A has a turret mounted machine gun on its roof, you just attack farm b, c, d and e, which have a shotgun each.

Then you go back to form a with all your looted firearms and take that.

Bullets will never be currency because their value is in them being used/destroyed/depleted. You have taken an American bluepill and become stupid

China will decline and millions will die. They would be effectively cutting their own head off in a sudoku.

Yes it won't be usable but so does fiat or gold, people will barter, not use a currency.
That said Bitcoin will still be there, during WW2 most country on earth did not see conflict, only northern France, Poland/western Russia, eastern China and then Germany and Japan really saw massive scale destruction. In the meantime places like Sweden, Portugal, Portugal or Ireland saw nothing, same for the USA (besides Pearl Harbor), South America and India.

To really wipe out Bitcoin you would have to kill all the nodes around the planet at the same time, even a solar storm can only affect half of the planet.

Final point, with the arrival of a second space age it will become increasingly easy to put nodes out of earth to places like the moon, asteroids or simply high earth orbit.

I've never understood the "real commodity" argument. At what point is something considered valuable? Take gold for example. It's a shiny fucking rock. That's it.
>But muh conductor use
Literally has the most negligible effect on value. So why is gold valuable?
>People want it
Why do they want it?
>Because other people want it.
The exact same shit applies to cryptocurrency in every way.

>> No.11944831

My real argument is whats the value in bitcoin.
I mean with all honesty that maybe, just fucking MAYBE, if humans were actually able to colonize mars then yes it would have some value, and become the new form of money. But seriously just wtf.

>> No.11944852

>>11944829
gold is actually used in the assemble-ling of graphics cards so there is a little use.
More use than what bitcoin has provided, which is nothing but pink wojak memes and world confusion to date

>> No.11944897

>>11944852
One of the reasons gold is valuable is because it has VERY little use. It's inert as fuck and won't be used to do much. It's also not the rarest metal on earth. Literally the only thing that gives gold a value is the fact that other people give it value. Bitcoin is better in every way. Would you rather carry around a bag of fucking heavy rocks, or own something completely weightless that you can use anywhere at anytime? Even if you use FIAT that is backed by gold, that same FIAT could be backed by bitcoin instead and it would be the same damn thing.

>> No.11944919

>>11944897
gold doesnt rust easly and has long life which is why they started using it in graphix cards
it started off as a base of currency yes, then money replaced it, how it maintained its value i have no fucking idea, my point it that it still has a use, its still usefull, theres still a very small reason to have it, it makes it way into society and people dont even realize it.

>> No.11944941

>>11944919
on top of this is can be smelted down and reused once more
its a re usable commodity, its real, you can hold it in your hands, feel it. bitcoin is madeup numbers, the electronic opposite of gold
