I'm 20, want to do a phd and go into research. One of the places I have applied to is rolls royce for supply chain management. I truthfully have zero interest in that field, but applied for an internship anyway. Now I have to fill out some forms/do online assesment and I really can't be arsed.

Even if I did get the place, would it be any good on my cv assuming I go into research? I am in the uk

if you’re planning to research supply chain management as part of your PhD or your PhD is related to the automotive industry, sure, otherwise its kinda irrelevant.

do you know much about databases, or database languages like SQL, or programming languages R/Python? Look into Datacamp (it's not free, but seems to be becoming growing in terms of popularity).

If you really don't wana do that internship, consider learning the basics of those things, because you'll use that a lot for research.

I'd take the internship though, especially if you got nothing to lose.

The only thing you need at post-graduate research is matlab. Trust me
