I'm thinking of trying to get a job as a barista while I study. Anyone know if barista courses are worth it? They are really fucking expensive for 1-2 days worth of practice.

Also when applying for jobs is it cringe to walk into the store and ask if they're hiring?

Barman here (worked 6 months) you can learn on the job if you have the chance to get employed without training. The key is to know your Bar, learn quickly and work fast. No problem for me so you should be able to learn how to be a Barista. Just google the different coffees and/or drinks.

I was thinking more along the lines of one of those trendy hipster coffee shops.
