>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Some places in those nations have definitely experienced down turns in home prices. I think Australia had the steepest devaluation in the Western world so far from what I remember. Don't worry, rate hikes will cause I a lot of people to give up homes they cannot afford with their mortgages . In Ch*na, there are literally riots in the street because a bunch of those retards bought at the peak and now their govt real estate agencies dropped the price by up to one-third since nobody is buying. They also have a huge housing supply with their artificially built ghost cities for the sake of raising GDP. Half of them dig a hole, the other half fill it and the state calls that productivity.

Thats what they said in late 2007, early 2008. Of course, mortgage lenders and homebuilders were getting railed. Kind of how they are getting railed right now.

The saving grace may be when people realize they paid less taxes, so 2019 might be slightly better than 2018 for homebuilders/mortgage lenders, but only if the Fed slows down otherwise there are way too many headwinds.

If you want to see where were at in the cycle, just look at the fund managers with the best long term records are doing. Dalio's Alpha fund has relatively low US equity exposure and wants nothing to do with Europe. Berkshire is sitting on a massive cash pile as they also were in 2007, same with Marks, Klarman, etc... Soros has SPY puts and low US equity exposure. Icahn is holding oil, utilities, insurers, and banks.

The holdings speak for themselves, these top performers are very defensive right now. They dont want European stocks at all, and have mostly defensive US stocks. They also have lots of cash/equivalents and commodity stocks (miners, oil). It seems inevitable that the Federal Reserve will have to crash the market to deal with massive inflation (this is mostly due to low unemployment). The only issue is that they werent willing to raise rates before debt grew to these obscene levels, not just in the USA but across the world. The worst violator being the European Union.

>Moon Jae In took an approach of using public jobs and leftist policies to create better employment and jobs

On the first, the policy roadmap states 810,000 public sector jobs will be created, promises to “comprehensively resolve the problem of irregular workers,” and outlines provisions to increase the employment of young adults in the public and private sectors. On the second, the document details expanded welfare programs for unemployed youth, children, artists, dementia patients as well as programs to increase public housing, reform public education and the national pension system, and create a better work-life balance for Koreans, who are among the top three OECD countries for total hours worked per year. On the third, the government pledged to increase minority shareholders’ rights to make chaebol more accountable to investors. It also included promises to foster small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) growth, such as doubling R&D in SMEs by the end of the administration’s term.

Private arcologies could operate under the same general analogy to private schools. An alternative to government-ran with new ideas possible.

Very understandable and logical. People will want societal exclusivity especially in the future.

but that is exactly the point: when even the "richest" nation in the world can't get it right, we have to at least acknowledge the idea that it can't be done: otherwise someone would have figured it out and it would have been copied throughout the world.

the fact that government programs fail over and over again throughout time, space and sectors is indicative of a deeper, systematic problem within the category of government provided services:

either it's systematic overspending due to wrong resource allocation, or it's fucked signaling because a decrease in quality does not result in a decrease of income, or corruption or whatever, but there is some mechanism at work that makes it seemingly impossible.

I like M1 Finance for their rational shares, as the name implies you buy only portions of a share, and they operate on a pie format so you allocated whatever % of your $50 to which ever company you want, added bonus is that you can still make a tiny amount of dividends as well. I'd suggest starting with a Roth IRA that way your money grows tax free (read more into it, as it's a long time commitment account) but that should help you get started.

Innovation has historically come from individuals and private entities, not the government, and private companies can be much more efficient than the government for many things, like space exploration
Sometimes, it's best to let the government control certain things for the sake of the greater public interest though, like utilities

Weed is for example, already legal in CA. Most people smoke and don't care. Also, people smoke weed all over the world and do not care. I doubt it people would just ignore the local dealer with cheaper weed because muh law enforcement. I may be wrong do. Being among potheats, they in general don't care or don't understand most of the world around them. I would rather invest into SpaceX than some weeds stocks.

Why is it so expensive to find replacement parts for a Model T? Because who the fuck still drives a Model T.

Did you know that some businesses have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to get support and security patches for Windows XP?

But you're partially onto something.
COBOL is a programming language that's no longer used for writing new software, but there's a fuck ton of it still around that still needs supported. So, I believe it's the Colorado School of Mines that has a CS program explicitly created for pumping out new grads that can write COBOL and will regularly make 6 figures since the only other COBOL coders are in their fucking 50s or 60s.

Do you know how the US legislative process works like? The President would never put anything into any proposition for which there isn't at least 80% chance to pass it and The Congress needs to be 100% sure The White House goes along with it. You can in general flip votes in both chambers even 10 minutes before the vote. Many votes, many opportunities for lobbying. There is no way to flip the President. He will either veto or not veto the proposed bill. This is mostly as of today to get enough Republican Senators on the board to pass it to the House. This way its both party victory since the 116th Congress is split and it only begins in January. Long way to go but Sessions is out thankfully. He puts 16 yolds to prison for having a bit of weed on them.

>Will weed be legalized in the US on the federal level in within 5 years?

Possible. We will see the first major indications of that in the next presidential election. Guaranteed at least one person in the primaries will run on federal legalization as part of their platform. It's a good bet to take early for a politician as statistically speaking it would draw votes from citizens who wouldn't otherwise give them the time of day. That's also partly why Trudeau was elected in Canada with such a strong majority. Libs would have won that election with or without Trudeau (because Harper was shit) but perhaps not by as large a margin as they did.

Why are people on this train of Trump not wanting to legalize weed? He cares about other things. Just because he doesn't go around talking about weed it doesn't matter he is against it. I don't talk myself about furies either. Learn to read the person in charge motives before investing money on it.

i think it will be more of a slow bleed. there is zero short term bullish catalyst except you have you need to watch for a pop if they announce asset sales. however those pops will be sold off quickly. long term (12 month or so) puts could be a decent bet

>If I were Trump -fabulously rich
This makes me think he would just legalize and put one of his many shell companies in charge of Trump family weed investments. You wouldn't even know it since its not public information and the Trumps will make billions on weed legalization.

As I said I may be wrong. You know its hard to talk to potheads when you gather your research on your next investments. Especially when you ask them when they are high.

LCIGuy is right, and I find him to be one of the few tripfags worth listening to. There are some anons you will come to recognize, too, like GALT guy and Texas, who I like quite a bit. Most everyone else is full of shit (Comfy) or an AIDS-ridden faggot (RKG) or a kike (Bagholder) but some people do drop good advice out of kindness or ego or both. The big thing is doing your own research and keeping your hands strong.
Be sure to stay away from options gambling, and limit your meme-stock gambles to a small percentage of the money you devote to stocks, which in turn should be money you don't need for day-to-day living and emergencies.

I think he might be. My hypothetical situation assumes he does but leaves it until the election to trot out as a selling point for a second term. If he were to try to legalize during current term, that could no longer be used in an election platform later.

He is the front man in a trade dispute with the second largest economy on earth. He may as well not give a fuck about your weed. Just saying.
>>11713416
My point. Once you legalize weed. How would that even look like? Once weed is legal you can buy it off the street. Legalizing only specific sellers is government controlled distribution. Why would you buy weed from a designated place if you can buy it cheaper and legal from some local guy who gets it below market price because Mexican cartels grow it in quantities that are 10 000 x larger than your US supplier. Also, pretty sure Mexican cartels will just overtake the legal production. This will effectively legalize a decent part of the Cartel income and that is why I don't see it going very well in conservative states and counties.

>pretty sure Mexican cartels will just overtake the legal production
pretty sure this is already happening. and as >>11712538 said, it's not worth going to jail for. i spend maybe $300/yr on weed, if i bought it from a dealer i'd save what... 20%? and i wouldn't have the option to buy crazy edibles and stuff that i can get from the dispensary.

just not worth it.

LOL. How do you know Cartel finances? Many legal productions are already financed by the Cartel as >>11713507 said. Also, even with Sessions out, many of the hard beating changes for drug offenses were done just in recent months and those are agency wide initiatives. At the time they already knew Sessions will be out. That makes me think there will be no legalization. You would need a liberal president and a super-majority in both chambers to pass it 100%.
