Nobody at Skycoin has ever talked seriously about satellite use. Synth has mentioned in interviews that it would be a marketing stint, but nobody can beam radio through the atmosphere and back without significant packet loss. Look at how shitty satellite TV is.

The latency is so high and the cost is so high.

Tethered balloons are something interesting though. Much less expensive.
