Got a question about Taxes. I know that it goes better for you at tax time if you keep your stocks for least a year before you sell them and that any dividends get counted as income but how bad is the tax bite if you sell some before a year is up? Do they only count it if you made a profit on the deal?

Well, papa johns may be bought out soon. it's the last of the public pizza joints that is not some part of a big conglomerate. Little Ceaser's is still private owned but that may change, half of the co-founder's/owners are dead now, kids are running the show these days. If it goes like most companies, soon as the founders/owners die, the heirs sell it for a sack full of cash.

Taking a long term profit will mean it follows a separate lower rate (the first three brackets are 0%, 15%, and 20% depending on your normal rate).
You can google this.
In my opinion, if you want to day/swing trade you’re accepting the larger tax rate for taking more opportunities.

The $2.62 loss/share number basically says everything you need to know about their financial position. The numbers are NOT good and the complicated way they report financials in the 10-Q doesn't help.

They have lots of debt coming due in the next two years and they need to sell a ton of assets to be able to pay for it. Cutting the dividend is a good first step, but they might as well have made it 0.00 instead of a fucking 0.01 joke.
My takeaway is It's going to get worse before it gets better and I wouldn't hold the stock even if you paid me their old 0.12 dividend.

Biz help me I'm a financial brainlet.
I'm just sitting on 50k, my monthly expenses are basically non-existent because I live in backwoods, am I just being retarded by wanting to keep 50k? I make 5k a month and put 200 a month into a mutual fund. Should I increase this amount? Should i just dump like 20k into the mutual fund? My Roth is already maxed out this year. My trailer, and truck is paid off. Food, Rent (utilities included), insurance and internet are my only spending costs.
