Bitmexfag looking to transition into more volatile markets here. Never had an online stock broker account nor understood anything about it. Opened an account on plus500 and when checking things out, I found out that even leverage is nonadjustable. Looking for guidance, it says I can lose more money than my initial deposit, how is that possible and what's the worst-case scenario? How do I guard against it, say leverage being used is 1:10, do I just set a top-loss at 10% loss to avoid losing more than my deposit? When trading Bitmex, I normally do low-lev no stops so I don't get stopped out by manipulation wicks, are there any stock brokers that allow adjustable leverage like Bitmex so I can apply this trading strategy? I know it's easy to bully someone who doesn't know shit especially on SMG, but I'd really appreciate any guidance from more knowledgeable anons.

If TQQQ moves with QQQ at 3x the pace, and if I am planning on holding for 20+ years, why shouldn't I buy TQQQ over QQQ? It tends to go up in the long term, so even when the market is red like now, I'll only be down 3x in the short term whereas if I keep bag holding for my 20+ years it'll soon recover and be green again.

Can somebody explain to me if this is somewhat correct or if I am completely retarded? It seems the only downside to this is if QQQ just absolutely completely tanks and never fucking recovers, which I feel is extremely unlikely.

I want to retire in 25-30 years or so. I have put about $9k into the market so far, went down to $8k because of the past few weeks, but I'm just buying more when I get paid tomorrow because of my time horizon.
