Tons of bagholders from the Dec/Jan bubble. Many have been selling off since then at losses, but there's going to be a lot of sell pressure when things start getting to those levels again. It's going to be a tough fight upwards.

Write it off as a true 'speculative investment'. It really looks like the crash has bottomed out and will slow rise at some point.. check prices once a month or so and forget about it.

If you find yourself stressed about it, you probably have a ton of your investment portfolio in it.. learn from your mistake - max 10% in super speculative markets and you'll always sleep well, but catch golden bulls

the amount of attention the last boom got us has dramatically changed the space. i really think it's not over, it might play out different, but there are too many people and institutions making moves in crypto for nothing to happen.

Normies have already left. I asked one of my normies friends the other day how hes crypto is doing (he doesnt know i have) and he was like. Yeah fucked up i already forgot about it. Dont even care i have it.

Another normie sold low just to buy some useless shit because he was afraid of losing all of his assets.

Normies have already left. Its just us and crypto enthusiasts fucking each other over. Unironically we are all waiting for ETFs, Bakkt and institutions coming public (yes institutions are already in). When "They" decide to start pumping the market again to capture normies again then shit will hit the fat. I dont even care about the price of BTC desu. The marketcap is absurd. We are going to 1trln at least in the next year. Its all a game right now. The thing is though the game requires a catalyst. Crypto will not rise because of randomness. It will rise because something something happens. I truly believe that something something is a catalyst but idk yet what it could be. I dont think Bakkt is the catalyst, but ETFs are. I like to compare this to the gold market.

Lets say you go to school for IT, or just not be a pleb and teach yourself to program. You get a couple shitty jobs in your early 20's, then get a decent IT job. By the time you are 24, you are making $112k (the national USA average for a full stack developer).

At this salary, you work for 7 years. You live a minimalist life with cheap rent and almost no expenses. From this, you are able to put most of your income into a mix of tax-free bonds, roth IRA, pump your 401k, and hedge a bit in stocks in crypto. Your portfolio is making 8% a year gains. Here is how much you have saved after:

-3 years: $193k principle, $219k w/ interest
-5 years: $323k principle, $398k w/ interest
-7 years: $452 principle, $608k w/ interest
-10 years: $646k principle, $991k w/ interest

And then you retire. You work 10 years, and retire with $991k saved and $73k per year income from interest. And yet, you don't do this. Instead of learning skills that will make you far, far more money that crypto ever will in your NEET lives, you gamble your life away because you're not willing to take but a tiny fraction of your life and put it into skilled labor.

Shame on you, Anon.

True, but 8% gains year over year, especially if you are diversified into bonds or not getting a company match on the 401k, isn’t always going to happen. 2008 wiped a decade of gains off the board. We’re due for another soon. The 4% rule is better with this strategy, but that would put you at living on like $36k a year after capital gains. That’s doable, but it’s no one’s ideal life in a first world country. You would still be better off with this strategy than gambling on shitcoins, though.

I've been in a while and now is 1000x better than when when silkroad got shut down or when gox crashed
bitcoin cash was actually really good for bitcoin it bankrupted the major mining cartel who was trying to influence code
the S2X drama and getting segwit in was huge, I sold about 50 coins right before S2X because I was so worried
now mining is more decentralized
mining difficulty is at an all time high

things I don't like are how long it's taking for things like LN, and other upgrades
the recent exploit they patched made me sick for a couple days
but overall bitcoin is getting to be super legit
I also sold all my alts and only hold bitcoin now

You've hit the maximum level, typically takes people about two to four years to go through all cycles to really understand why Bitcoin is unique.

bitcoin already has the best use case being a store of value
everything else is "promising tech" that's still uncertain
in time bitcoin will get its upgrades
bitcoin can be all blockchains (liquid=xrp, RSK=ETH, LN, etc.) but there can only be one bitcoin
the altcoin game will only be a short blip in bitcoin's history as things start getting integrated into the 2nd layer

maybe it could provide a utility but it isn't valuable
"free, instant, scaleable" all come with consequences that weaken security, decentralization, etc.

Nano isn't worth anything yet, which is an opportunity. It was distributed to the poorest in a failing country, rather than bought and mined by fidelity for years.
