a family member of mine just died and left me $100,000 (minus taxes) and I have a $45,000 strike fund which I don't need now sitting in a money market. i am getting close to early retirement and was thinking of buying some blue chip stocks that have good dividends. i was going to reinvest the dividends until i retire. when i retire use them and a monthly or quarterly boost to my monthly pension check. does that sound good, should i do something else with it?

btw, my house is paid off, my car is paid off and i think i still will get 5 more years use out of it. in addition, i have over $300,000 in my 401k which i put in the max i can every year.

Well you don't want to invest in stocks right now. Buying land is your best bet atm. Could even buy land and renovate into parking for dividends

Look into something like a 40/40/20 split: fixed income, equity, cash. Consider things like a bond etf, SPY, gold for those allocations.

I would do a 50/50 mix of dividend stocks and Bonds. With the Bonds do a mix of low risk municipal (tax free) and corporate bonds (I use VCIT). I'd put the other 50% into a mix of VYM and a few good blue chippers that pay 5%+.

I can't wait for my relatives to die. I'm the only child in the whole extended family and they're all big on muh IRA and muh 401K and muh HSA and muh dividends.

Same boat
>be born a generation after all my cousins
>they die in 'nam, women are stupid whores who disappear
>my second cousins are all thots and losers
>spend my free time visiting elderly members of family and talking to them about what to do with their money
>they die and leave me all their fortunes
>cousins sue me because of course they do
>they lose

Feels pretty good.
