It was worth .95 less than two hours ago. That's a sharp and dangerous downtrend, and if it settles in the 80s, that's when you'll see the actual shockwaves, which will be far more dramatic and crazy than the flashcrash that just happened.

Remember that if you are a US citizen you are forbidden to own Tether. From their own terms of service:

>Furthermore, residents of certain U.S. states are not permitted to be customers of Tether; are not permitted to cause Tethers to be issued or redeemed; and, are not permitted to hold Tether Tokens.
>
>Beginning on January 1, 2018, Tether Tokens will no longer be issued to U.S. Persons.

Don't be fooled by the word "certain". They also state that they will try to weasel out of redeeming USDT for any legal reason (see the quote below). An easy excuse would be that they suspect you are funding terrorism. You also have to be a "fully verified customer" in order to even try redeeming USD (I don't know whatever that actually entails for a non-US citizen).

>Absent a reasonable legal justification not to redeem Tether Tokens, and provided that you are a fully verified customer of Tether, your Tether Tokens are freely redeemable.

Copied directly from the source: https://tether.to/legal/

If these two quotes aren't the biggest red flags for avoiding Tether like the plague I don't know what more you want.

>> No.11407772

>>11407389
You know Bitfinex's BTC/USD is the only fiat pair that has a $500 premium over BTC/USD on other spot exchanges. To arbitrage this premium away you need to deposit BTC to Bitfinex, sell for USD, withdraw as USD, buy BTC on other exchanges, and do this over and over. If no one's arbitraging the premium away it can only mean that either BTC deposits to Bitfinex are shut down, or USD withdrawals are both shut down. Even if USD deposits, USDT deposits, USDT withdrawals and BTC withdrawals are all online they don't matter to the arbitrage, because BTC/USD on Bitfinex track BTC/USDT on other Tether exchanges perfectly.
