No. Blockchains will compete for the smart contract space, but Bitcoin is a different animal.
Personally, I don't really grok why BTC is still pre-eminent, especially given that fiat gateways do away with having to buy BTC.
But this is still where we are now.
I predict there'll be 3 blockchains win out eventually, each one catering to a different smart contract need.
Ethereum won't be one of them. Probably will be EOS, ADA and one from out of left-field. But ETH is shit.

You're still oversimplifying it so your brain could process it. BTC can not be the only currency just for the single fact alone that it doesn't have private transactions.
Smart contracts will be memes for a while, nobody cares about them before any Cryptocurrency reaches mainstream. Eth will still be 'the platform' for years to come because it was the first, like BTC was.
The market won't care that you want things to be simple - each platform/currency has good incentives to spread their ecosystems while not one has reached mainstream yet so stop pretending you know anything.

To survive in any ecosphere you have to have something that others don't have. In the real physical world this can be through access to certain governments via lobbying, access to land through war, access to raw materials through regulatory capture etc.
