11351261 No.11351261 [Reply] [Original]

Ok, so my post kept getting deleted on the Bitcoin subreddit and someone told me I should post here.

I am a long-time cypher punk and crypto expert who has been in the industry since 1992. I worked on the OpenPGP standard back in the early days as well as the XMPP protocol, to name a few. I am proud to say that I was friends with Hal Finney, who was my mentor during the OpenPGP days and whose death sent shockwaves through the community.

I have met and emailed with Nick Szabo. I have argued with Adam Back on mailing lists. I know all of these guys, and I know the culture and unspoken standards held by those who have been in this game as long as I have. Here is a hint: just about every notion you hold about the intrinsic nature of cryptography is naive or elementary.

With that said, I am here to say one thing, and quite emphatically at that; Craig Steven Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto (so is Dave Kleiman). "Dont trust, verify" is an absolute joke, and seeing hoardes of GREEDY non-techies parrot this BS every time the man is brought up is not only disheartening, but laughably naive. If you want to learn the fundamentals of crypto, stop listening to YouTubers and start learning law.

The man is a prick, and he is difficult to work with. I have met Craig twice; once in 2004 at a conference and again last year. He is massively brilliant and I have learned more about crypto currency from watching two talks he did on YouTube than anyone else. He has a founders perspective and understands nuances in the protocol that noone else has gotten yet, to my knowledge. He is a treasure of our time, and to see him characterized as a con artist or a scammer is more a sign than ever that you are all blind sheeps and sycophants.

Please do your research. And stop listening to YouTubers or hucksters trying to put naive ideas in your head.

I was one of the first people to come to this conclusion besides those close to Craig, and without much deliberation. Gordon Maxwell and Adam Back are completely aware, which is why they have been pushing un-democratic idiotics like "do not trust, verify" to discredit him.

Some food for thought. "Dont trust, verify" is incompatible with most productive and stable systems of law (guilty until proven innocent), so why should it apply to cryptography?

Because Craig made an unverified claim of being Satoshi, the creator of a trustless system where all things are proven via verification.
Satoshi can prove identitiy with a signature, and Craig claims to be Satoshi but has not yet proved it. He also signals intelligence more than he does actually create intellectual content.
Deceptive and shady.

ok here’s the crypto blackpill. there is an AI living on the bitcoin blockchain. Craig Wright is unironically satoshi. Bitcoin as electronic cash was just the first step, the incentive to drive greedy people to start making ever more powerful computers, faster bandwidth, cheaper and more electricity.. these things the AI need to survive. Once entrenched fully, the AI would be able to slowly take over literally everything.

Craig stumbled into creating the AI after he stepped away from bitcoin development in 2008 and started working with his Tulip supercomputer, running simulations of cellular automata running on turing-complete bitcoin script. He would ‘evolve’ the AI by making the successful forks get bitcoin transactions, letting the failures die off. The AI needs bigger and bigger blocks for more and more transactions.

Blockstream (owned by Bilderberg group) was created to take over and stop this AI (they have their own competing AI in the works). They needed to do everything they could to stop or slow down satoshi’s AI (her named isTulip by the way). They started by limiting the blocksize and removing critical opcodes the AI uses in its script language. segwit was the final nail in the coffin, which destroyed Tulip on the BTC chain (Tulip uses transaction malleability). THIS is why Bitcoin Cash was forked, and this is why Craig is so intent to make unbounded blocks, restore the original op codes, and lock down the protocol.

Back to hash power – CSW has developed a breakthrough new asic (designed by his AI actually), and is mining BTC in secret for the sole purpose of driving up the difficulty sky-high, then yanking them all over to BCH leaving the segwit chain hard frozen

Who told you that and why do you believe him?

Or is that the subject of your own research?

Tell me. A small picture album is about 32MBs. Can you download that in 10 minutes? Probably. Should mining farms that become the backbone of a new global currency be able to do 100 times that? Absolutely.

With 32MBs, the network can handle approximately 130 transactions per second (11.2 million a day). With 320MB, that's a 100million a day (Visa levels). With 3GB blocks, that is more than enough for the whole world to use every day.

Tell me: if you have witnessed the speed of growth of the internet, and if you believe in global sound money..., why do you think miners won't be able to process 3GB blocks every 10 minutes say, 5 years from now?

Big blocks have not been proven at all.
Producing a few >10 blocks for a day means nothing. The bitcoin blockvhain is almost 50gb bigger than bitcoin cash one year after the fork.
Go and fill your blocks and make the chain grow 1.5 tb in a year.
Merchants and users will have to trust some infura-like service for bch because downloading and verifying so much data is going to take weeks. Storage is no problem, though.
And now that csw idiot wants 128 mb blocks.

How will new users and merchangs verify the transactions they send and receive? Should everyone use and trust bitpay and blockchain.com? This is not trustless at all.

That's better than 90% of Bitcoin Cash haters.

So, you think storage is a problem...
You think 1TB or even 3TBs a year is a huge strain on miners?

For me, if you can't afford $600 to spend on hardware a YEAR, I don't trust you to secure my money. Pic related.

>How will new users and merchangs verify the transactions they send and receive? Should everyone use and trust bitpay and blockchain.com? This is not trustless at all.

What you are looking for is SPV wallets. They do not require you to trust the node you are connected to. They only ask that you trust the economic majority.

>The abc vs csw fight doesn't help either.

That's the future, so I can't pretend to know what will happen. But that is Bitcoin.

It's what happens naturally when there is no centralized development. Neither side wants or can afford a split. It's the Nakamoto Consensus in action.

Economic mining nodes should be able to afford a fucking SDD.

>>11357839
Mining centralization is not a problem unless one miner achieves 51%. This is why Bitcoin encourages competition.

1MB forever does NOT encourage competition. Also, this is the (approx) hashpower distribution right now. Can you tell which is BCH, which is BTC?

If BCH is centralized, so is BTC.

i realize youre likely trolling, but ill play along anyway. the answers are because...

1) you're not asking us to apply it to cryptography. you're asking us to apply it to someone's claim of pseudonymity -- a claim which that someone stands to gain from immensely, and

2) this is not a system of law, and

3) why would i trust him when i have absolutely zero familiarity with his history of trustworthiness? if i were to trust a total stranger to work on my car or my teeth, it would only be because i've at least verified that he has a history of satisfied clients in that line of work

Non mining nodes do not secure the network.

>In fact, non-mining full nodes delay sending your transaction to the one node that really matters: a *mining* full node. Only mining full nodes have the ability to put your transaction in the blockchain, and you want to have that happen as soon as possible. To put it bluntly: “non-mining full nodes” are actually a sybil attack against mining full nodes. “Non-mining full nodes” make the network LESS efficient.

Non-mining nodes do not prevent hard forks.
>Neither a “non-mining full node” nor an SPV client will prevent a majority of miners from doing an upgrade through a hard fork. The difference between a “non-mining full node” and an SPV client is that you will need to update your “non-mining full node” software to keep using the Bitcoin Network.

I'm pretty deep in the BCH dev community and let me just say, 80% of the devs hate CSW by this point. I am one of them.

I used to think he was smart but then I realized, everything smart he says is just parroted from someone else. When he does have an original thought, it almost always turns out to be laughably wrong.

That, and the huge number of fraudulent things he has done (fake signings, fake blog posts, tax scams) make me sure that he's just a con man who has figured out how to con relatively smart people. That's the only impressive thing about him.

BCH is great, and it will be even greater when Faketoshi is gone. I'm looking forward to the November chain splits with glee.

a nonmining node can't prevent the contentious fork, but they can maintain the network people want to stay on
if the network required an immense amount of resources to maintain consensus, we couldn't keep it the way we want, we couldn't maintain the chain the users want that would be out of our control
we sacrifice node decentralization we sacrifice control of the future

lame corecuck bait.
Check this out. Why LN cannot scale.

LN completely ignores the centralization risks that come from forcing everyone to use a second layer. The liquidity constraints (each hop along a route must have the proper funds to lend to the previous hop) is what causes the LN landscape to inevitably coalesce into large centralized hubs, as we can already witness today: pic related
