Second case looks like a perfect data key/pair. Im not sure about this, that's might be just anomail caused by background cyclity.

let me give you faggots a hint;

The lines represent constants that are part of the elliptic curve. The hexagons are all points on a finite field that are plotted to graphically represent an elliptic curve. This gets you the first key. if you trial and error the decimal numbered basepoints on the curve starting with the generator being two integers derived from one of the lines (that gives you the constants) you will get a set of keys that can be trialed and errored to try and unlock the second key.

this gets you the first and second key. i also know the third key but am not revealing it until i manage to somehow get the 4th.

Ok so here's what I got. I figured I might as well let the brainlets know what kind of approach actually works. Pretty sure this is the big one as nobody in the reddit thread even found it the riddle yet.

The png contains two compressed files.
Extracting and uncompressing the first yields a color-spectrum definition file. I'm not sure if this is a PNG-thing, but after trying it out on some random PNGs, I couldn't find anything like it. Pic related - pretty sure the values of the color scheme are pieces of one of the keys,

The second file isn't as easy. The compression stream itself appears to be corrupted on purpose. Most tools will not attempt to inflate the file - but some will. Running such a tool will give you a ~20MB file. I'm not sure if you can correct the corruption, but so far I haven't been able to.

Running the result through a file-type-analyzer yields a 100% certainty match for .dbf, an obscure database filetype from the 90s that is currently used in SAP's SQLAnywhere.

The database isn't loadable - the first header bit is a 1 and only numbers from 2 are valid. Also the encoding is fucked (which could be because of the broken compression).

That's where I'm at rn. How bout you brainlets?

Hey man I did something similar. But I only found 1 zlib-compressed chunk starting at byte 34 and 3144 bytes in length. I run file detection on it and got:
Microsoft color profile 2.1, type Lino, RGB/XYZ-mntr device, IEC/sRGB model by HP, 3144 bytes, 9-2-1998 6:49:00 "sRGB IEC61966-2.1"

I assume it's the same one you found. I don't think it's relevant to the challenge because many PNGs have embedded color profiles in them, and you can see it if you open the image with GIMP for example: it will ask you if you want to keep the proprietary color profile or convert the image to the GIMP one. The challenge image was created in Photoshop most likely, so that's the reason.

If you want to collaborate on this drop me a line at rcjohqj@yahoo.com. Note: I also work, so I won't be able to devote all day to this, but I will see what I can do.

You are looking for a private key, which starts with a 5, or even a 12/24 word passphrase that many wallets use these days instead of directly giving you the private key.......

As in this months old puzzle NOBODY solved because it was likely too convoluted and based on a custom passphrase...... but it at least had some clues......

to be honest I'm probably not going to invest too much time into this either. From what I gathered since the zlib is probably a dead end anyway. PNG just uses that internally and giving false positives. Still, the values of the color scheme do seem a little... too well formed for something random. It might still be one of the keys.

Right now the best bet is the salted openssl encrypted string from decoding the hidden binary in the image. As the guy here
https://security.stackexchange.com/questions/29106/openssl-recover-key-and-iv-by-passphrase/29139#29139
points out the security is quite weak and will probably get brute forced in the next few days.

How hard, compared to to first cicada puzzle in 2012 is this.

>> No.11333052

This is a time based puzzle as the creator has hinted. The keys are time seeded by an algorithm which doesn't work until a specific date. Unless you find the date first, probably some astrology in it, you can't solve it. Good luck. I am pretty close. Hint: overlay hexagons

my thoughts desu, i feel the whole competition is deluded IF even real

but op, those papers are gonna be written, you are gonna publish a book, why hide behind anonymity now? ppl would give you credibility if you (and the profs) gave name behind the competition now. why wait?
ye you proved you got access to an address with 310 BTC. you proved nothing more, and no one knows atp anything about anyone involved with that puzzle. you could just remove the BTC a month from now and claim some anonymous person solved the puzzle. one of the professors, or anyone who got access to their work could anonymously move the funds at any point.

really just curious, why hide behind anonymity now, when a lot more people would be willing to spend time on it if you stepped forward?

honestly - yes, intelligence does make some difference although I would say you are more right than wrong.

If a high IQ gives you a better ability to learn things (and thats basically all it says) and the field is basically nothing more than a large accumulation of trivia-like facts, it does give a slight edge.

At the end of the day the person who knows about most crypto/steganography tools/techniques wins tho

Because this isn't a huge part of my life. My anonymity is more important to me than some puzzle I organized for fun. The other guy did bring up a good point though, publishing a book would give that up. I may have to find some other way to publish this information while remaining anonymous.

I really don't have a desire to be known as "The guy who made the BTC puzzle". I just think the entire process was really interesting and I'm very excited to see what approaches people take to solve it.

Yeah this is the shit I think about everyda. It takes so long for a human to master a skill. I would want to learn more skills, but there is so much skills out there that I would'nt get to be even average in my whole lifetime.

It would be so cool to get a neuralink in the brain and download skills/knowledge like in the matrix. Thats my dream.

Its good to have these fantasies, but I'm starting to give up on life. I'm the average man, no born talents and everything I have ever done I have failed. It really hurts me. I have now laid in my bed for weeks and have no drive on anything, I need to think how to get up from this pit or I'm doomed. fuckin shit.

Its funny you say that because I did an abortion with my girlfriend this summer. I just really ain't dad material yet. When I have a child I want to be financially secured and I don't even know if I want to have a child in this cruel world. It would be very selfish to get a child imo.
