I think he puts too much emphasis on the stories of the bible. You can find glory in everything. The bible is nothing special but the values we have in the west are.

Apart from that, I use him to swing-trade. "Clean up your room". Starting with small things, not taking too great a risk.

He said the Cane and Able story is profound. I read it and didn't make it halfway through.

He doesnt say anything remarkable. the only remotely interesting part about him is how liberals over exaggerated his boring ass opinions to paint him as something else entirely and he didnt even have any part of that

Hes boring

he thinks people are better off than ever.
yet there is nearly no man that can afford a house, a stay at home wife and 2 properly raised children
even some of the most competent people in our society will require a lifetime of debt to the point where the idea of property ownership is becoming abstract

It's just sophistry. I can do that too.

> "Good and evil are like the grains of salt and pepper on your dinner table. They are a staple of the human diet, they cross all cultural boundaries, and of course they represent the light and darkness inherent to all human beings. Now notice - the salt and pepper shakers are made up of individual grains! Your life isn't colored by one grain of good or evil, but made up of many! Your individual actions will add up to the complete seasoning of who you are as a person, bucko! And notice, Biblically, in Genesis 19:26 - Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt. We can of course over salt our food, to where it can become bitter or even deadly! This represents the imposition of the tyrannical will over people! That's the archetype of the tyrant! When you allow order to so totally overwhelm your life, that the salt overwhelms everything else on your plate! You need balance. You need to control your impulses, because even acts of good can be transferred into deadly, authoritarianism. Remember, the road to hell is paved with good intentions - look at the utopianism of the Soviet Union! My God! If you read Solzhenitsyn, when he talks about the gulags in Siberia, the snowflakes he describes are like grains of salt - each a futile attempt at creating the greater good - no! That's wrong!"

All the anti-Marxist dog whistling is too on the nose for someone who hasn't grown up under American propaganda. It's an interesting mix of very sensible advice and encoded messaging.
Take for example his very quick establishment of the premise that university SJWs conform to a "Marxist" school purely on the basis of him quoting a single sentence of Marx. And then he assumes you'll take that analogy and run with it. That sort of association only makes sense if you're an American who already has preconceived bogieman ideas about "Marxists" (honestly whatever in the fuck even is a Marxist) and SJWs.
Then take the fact that he says "You can't really understand an opinion until you can properly articulate both sides" but then in basically the same breath waves away "SJWism" as a sort of irrational neo-marxism that isn't open to discussion. Wait a minute, you literally just said you can't have an opinion until you articulate both sides but your conception of the other side is a strawman.
I can totally see how this would appeal to young people as "the truth", but even within the first five minutes he is assuming that you take on all of this presumptions and run with them when they represent a specific (American, conservative) ideology.
I'm not even saying this is worthless or that you shouldn't watch it. Hell, I completely agree with his sentiment that you should consume both sides. But it's disingenuous to think that this is anything more than another biased viewpoint that should be located within a matrix of varyingly biased viewpoints, despite the fact it sells itself as the "simple truth".

He is just a sophist that is more preoccupied with pleasing his audience rather than promoting original or really disruptive ideas. The only reason he is so hyped is because his opponents are so underwhelming. He presents his views either in interviews or lectures, never facing an opponent that could pinpoint how derivative he is.
Perhaps, that is just where the society has arrived: a public speaker feeding on low hanging fruit is perceived as the paragon of wisdom. The philosopher we deserve but do not need

4Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
5The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
6And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
7And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
8The sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
9And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha. And the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

We're better off in some ways, but economically we're far worse off than the generations before.

I'm gonna assume you're a homeowner or your family is. If so, you have a completely different mental experience than those who are not, so it's easy to say they're on their position because they consume things they don't need.

I became a homeowner by sheer luck through crypto. If not for that, it's literally 20 years of labor for an uneducated man without a family. That's not a healthy system imo and we need less people being ideologues for defending the status quo like Peterson.
