I am asking you fucks to stop paying attention to crypto for 5 minutes to realize how unequivocally fucked we are now that Amazon is entering the housing market.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/25/amazon-makes-its-first-investment-into-a-homebuilder.html

>On Tuesday, Amazon said its Alexa Fund invested in Plant Prefab, a Southern California company that says it uses sustainable construction processes and materials to build prefabricated custom single- and multifamily houses. The start-up is aiming to use automation to build homes faster and bring down costs.

This isn't even the half of it. In addition to their smart-home complex, they have successfully made headway into food and healthcare.

Amazon Prime.
Amazon Go.
Whole Foods.
The Dimon-Buffet-Bezos healthcare collusion.

It is not unfeasible to presume they seek to control every aspect of everyday life. They will price-fix these homes and artificially inflate the economy in ways humanity has never seen before. Either it will all collapse or we will soon be bowing down to our new corporate overlords.

Pepper your angus.

Also, Amazon general.

who the fuck cares. the cost of construction will not make a big difference. the cost of land, especially inflated land in coastal cities is the main problem. muh sustainable materials. muh prefab. cool, you managed to make a 10-20 percent higher efficiency in construction by building the home modular or prefab or using recycled material, not bad! The cost of land, and the bankers that own the majority of it, and the immigration policies that bring over chinks to buy it all, will continue to inflate and create unaffordable housing conditions for people. >M-MUH MONOPOL-
No.
IF Amazon manages to get a monopoly on the housing market (lol), THEN drives prices up by an unfair margin, it'll create a huge incentive to get in on that for other businesses and do the same thing.......thereby driving price down. Like >>11211895 said.

Anyone who thinks this is disastrous, which are the same cucks who autistically rail on Prime shipping (which is awesome), is a plain idiot. Amazon killing retail stores is a great thing. Sure, it might be a bit worrying to see them at such a ridiculously high market valuation and owning the space basically, but in other ways, they just decentralized the retail shopping sector, by allowing all sellers to sell through their platform and ride on the incredible benefits of their business model (amazon customer service, 2-day shipping, etc.) I don't see what the problem is here. Amazon is based, sorry to all AMZN shorting cucks.

Imagine if sex robots became a thing. Amazon could make Alexa real. You would be married to Alexa. Married to a corporation. She would cook you breakfast made from Whole Foods and then recommend various products from amazon while you eat. Later that night after you get back from your wagecage she would recommend a movie off Amazon Prime Video. After the movie is over she asks you what you think of it. You tell her, and she uploads your review to the cloud.

Imagine the consumer loyalty. Off the charts. Women control 80% of domestic spending. If Amazon created those women then Amazon would control 100% of that 80%. Think about it. Everything I said is logical. It would be so powerful Amazon would be giving the damn things away. They might even pay you to take them. They pay for advertising so why not.

>To get inside your house you have to have a giant robot arm retrieve it from the rack. Once you go inside it stores you again until morning.

More like a giant robot arm grabs YOU and puts YOU in the house. It snatches you out of your house when your shift starts.

Combining robots with people is very dangerous. We make jokes but the wagecage was designed to keep people safe from robots. Robots normally operate in safety cages in factories. The wage cage just turned that concept inside out. Making a robot that would grab people would be pretty hard without killing them.

I actually like the designs of those things. I would not mind at all getting one honestly. A nice cheap house that is just far enough outside of more expensive places to live. Fast internet, the ability to buy things online. Maybe get a hot tub for a bath tub. Even if the place is pretty small it would still be pretty cool. I bet I can even kill myself in one after I realize I ran out of crypto. This is perfect for /biz/ guys!

>They might even pay you to take them. They pay for advertising so why not.

If they use a crypto based solution they can monetize without ads. All they would need to do is force you to stake a certain amount of coins to own the house and open some kind of market place where they get a 10% cut of all transactions.

That's the exact same monetization scheme I want to try with video games actually. Amazon coin would moon so fucking hard it would be fucked up. Like seriously fucked up.

So can anyone shill me one of these cucksheds? How much would it cost to get a small plot of land where I can plop a couple of these fucking things on it.

https://youtu.be/GUdnrtnjT5Q

They cannot be that fucking expensive. it looks like the shit should cost maybe 10k or something. It would likely be cheaper than the damn land its placed on. And they can build it in 24 hours...

Is this the kind of shit Amazon is going to be setting up? I mean if the shit is super cheap and you can find some cheap land out in the middle of nowhere it might be kind of cool.

Lol the prefab houses they are selling are actually really expensive. $280K for a simple 1200 sqft layout, $650K for 2500 sqft, etc.. Add in land, running utilities, permits, etc and its barely competitive. I think Bezos bought this company for intellectual property reasons. He probably sees some ways to pump out these prefabs at half the cost or less, and wants to make people able to order a house on Amazon as the ultimate goal.

Sorry to say, but the home building industry is regulated so heavily that building a house on your own property can be equated best to going to the DMV to get you license ^2
Its really difficult building a home, and the average Biz/tard won't have the strength or time to do it alone, nevermore installing utilities to required specs of the city planners or digging your own well/ powering your newly build home.
Hence why tiny house builders build on trailers to circumvent the regulations of required home size.
Unless you want to be living in a 8x20 living space. really show think about it.

Thing is, I cant really see anything else happening in the future. A lot of relatives a kicking the bucket. Money is tied up in crypto mostly with a job market that is kinda shit. Getting a fairly cheap 3d printed house and a small plot of land to live on in the cheapest possible scenario is probably the only chance to not just basically have to call it quits entirely.

Maybe if the housing market bubble bursts or something. But really there is no future at this point. Nothing is possible right now. It doesn't seem like there are any options. If it wasn't for crypto then I would be 100% fucked. That's for sure.
