It was plummeting for almost two weeks when the call was made at nearly $6/share and he was targeting $11/share.

The only way you could've doubled is if you actually had listened and held off for it to hit $4.

Yeah I love the platform. The trading is noticeably INSTANTANEOUS compared to RH. Lots of tools on the software, can trade in many different markets, etc. Low commissions.

It's just scarier senpai. Psychologically, it's a lot harder to play with $5000+ than the $1000 I had on RH. Plus the IB margin rules are scary. If your equity falls below the maintenance margin they auto liquidate your positions until it's square.

I've just been really careful so far. I'm not making much money. Only $70 this week.

I think there are cash accounts, but that would come with the standard 3 day restrictions you have on standard RH. The margin account on IB isn't really risky as long as you don't max out your leverage. If you want to trade every day, I'd go with the margin account.

As for the response time, it's 100% instantaneous as far as I can tell. That is, IF you purchase the LIVE market data. The market data package only costs $10/mo, and it's WAIVED if you spend at least $30/mo in commissions. If you have that package, the quotes are totally instant. The trading is also instant. Basically, the response is your internet latency: 100ms or whatever it may be.

The software is also pretty good in terms of performance. I think newer platforms like ThinkOrSwim probably feel more fluid, but IB's TWS software is completely adequate with my PC at least.
