I had 13 BTC in 2014, didn't hold, bought altcoins that all went to 0, started the bullrun with 7 used 1 for another investment at 800 usd, sold another at 1800 low (from 3k) that then got fbi'd and haircutted by about 30% (btc-e) lost 2 learning how not to go 50x leverage, sold about 1 combined to friends when the dumb money came in and now I got just over 3 left... I fucked up. Way above my initial though still and my trading is going good in the last couple of months, everything finally clicked for me after trading for about 2-3 years (last 2 basically everyday).

low exposure to alts (talking no more than 20% of a book)
managing risk appropriately
act contrarian
add to/lever up riskless positions
never add to loosing positions
use indicators for entries, and trend establishment (I prefer PSAR and TD) but not much else
realize trading is probabilities over logic/emotion
modest use of leverage
portfolio rebalancing

This didn't happen all at once each one took some pain to learn and live by.
