Recreational weed is not pharma but there are crossovers with rec companies entering supply deals with biopharma companies for oil extracts. The cannabis derivative biopharma sector is a little different. These outfits are doing the regular pharma route of drug R&D, clinical trials, getting FDA approval and so forth. As research and, especially clinical trials, were/are hard to conduct in the US due to cannabis being a Schedule I drug, there is a big surge of labs operating out of Canada now (because legal shortly) doing research on using cannabis derivatives in new drug formulation. Very new industry and, I think, potentially a massive one. Most medical cannabis to this point has been relegated to non-specific prescription, patient buys whatever from dispensary and self doses. No set dosage, no set product with consistent strength etc. The biopharmas want to make consistent meds with comprehensive, trial tested for specific indicators, dosage guidelines. The current loosey loosey way cannabis is prescribed means doctors are less likely to prescribe it unless specifically requested to by patients.

Steel tariffs will only benefit American companies. Sure the additional manufacturing costs of their chainlink fences will be passed along to the consumers, but the steel manufacturers are the ones that will see more sales. I would be reluctant to purchase anything involved in construction right now though, unless you're planning on holding for longer than a year it's like there's plenty of other stuff to be swing trading.

i mean a lot of us have been screeching how much of a sham his company was for a good while now, but its easy to tune it out as bearish propaganda or the blatherings of small specs who were losing their shirts from going short. especially w a meme stock like that where it would just shoot up like 80 bucks cuz of a tweet. but its not your fault necessarily. its the fault of elon frauding all of his fucking shareholders. just dont get yourself enron'D senpai. its not worth it and it seems extremely likely given the fact that the bonds are pretty much un-tradeable at this point. if it was because of another credit downgrade, this could be explained away as another credit event (which still isnt good, but not as immediate of a threat as the bonds are due 2025). but as far as i can tell its not that. and that can only mean one of a few things in TSLAs case rn, and absolutely none of them are any good.

this also seems likely. especially when were talking about a fucking murdoch-spawn
pieces of shit. all of them. i wish flaying people alive was the go-to punishment for this level of corporate fraud and stealing from all those fucking share/bondholders. i feel like if the execs at enron got flayed alive it wouldve soothed a lot of wounds back then desu. much more effective than just throwing a couple guys who didnt cover their ass under the bus, and putting em in "club fed" for a couple years.

You pretty much have to have a longer hold time horizon on U.S. markets or it's about as viable as gambling and you're almost 100% better doing anything else with your time and money. You can put a position on whenever you see it, but you should be structuring it for a hold of at least a couple days. I've heard about people having success on the shorter term in less developed markets, but those people would get annihilated if they were on U.S. markets. Short term trading is already difficult to do outright, but when you throw in taxes and commissions (and any other fees) the odds stack even further against you.

If you try to scale up to a trading size that might overcome your costs, you will almost certainly set yourself up for a liquidity event where either the bids or the offers just blink out of existence and you lose as much on a single trade short term trading as most people risk on longer time horizons. You have to be really careful because every "great trader" out there supposedly making bank is either not trading U.S. markets, offers and promotes their education and mentoring service more than their actual trading, and/or at the firm level makes the bulk of their profits through education and fees they charge against their traders. Go for longer time horizons.

There are opportunities all over. It's like poker. The table you choose to sit down at plays a pretty significant role in your expectancy. It's not that people who trade U.S. markets are super human all knowing psychics. It's just that U.S. markets are rigged to Hell and back against retail traders. The most glaring example I can think of off the top of my head is just look at how the historically compassionate U.S. government imposes the pattern day trader rule. More importantly, look when it was enacted. Right around the time a lot of peasants were making boatloads of money. It's also not applied to futures for some reason.

Then you have the uptick rule. You have CFDs being banned. And it's like roaches. You see one, you have a whole lot more somewhere. Ultimately, the idea is to just regulate the average retail trader out of existence and rig the markets. When is the last time your option positions got bailed out? If you have the option to trade other markets, there will likely be bullshit, but no where near the level of malevolent and directed bullshit that you find in the U.S. markets.

Have you all realized it's a scam put in place by ((them)). No scam has ever been able to target the young and lazy in history as well as this one. Nice digs and everything I ever wanted/needed plus the expectation that I would Homebrew the best legal tools in the world.

The Amazon legal Dept is a dotnet shop. The company has no internal ego and is not married to any process. If you have a better idea, you are expected to create and evangelize it.

It's probably different now but when I was there Jeff was super hands on and in most of my stakeholder meetings.

Btw Amazon is a legal firm masquerading as a tech/retail/info company.

>Also, you're very cool. I'd really appreciate it if you could answer a couple Qs:
>>Why did you leave? (More money? Career progression? Better work/life balance?)

I have teenagers I want to see grow up. Wife and I want to retire when they finish HS so we moved to a more wholesome/family part of the country. Seattle is for singles.

hey thats a pretty good tax write off, on the bright side lol
but im starting to think this corporate debt yield spike was due to anticipating some tightening from the FED. of course this isnt good for such a shittily financed company as TSLA as theyll never be able to get more money w out straight up dilution at the expense of stock holders. but things might not be as gloom and doom as i initially thought. the yield spike was all across the board on all debt securities. i havent seen if the TSLA bonds have recovered tho (really doubt it desu)

One other thing, I did have kids at 23. We were poor, I was in my last year of college but we made it work and we were happy.

My 16 year old daughter and 15 year old son live a very cush life compared with what I lived as a result and I am 39, on track to "retire" at 45.

The only other advice I would give my 23 year old self is to be thankful for what appear to be the scariest/worst moments in life. Lou Mannheim was right. Man looks in the abyss, there's nothing staring back at him. At that moment man finds his character and that is what keeps him out of the abyss.

He's hedging converts. He buys bonds that he can change into stocks or cash at maturity while also shorting the stock. His buyback price is guaranteed so it's very low risk. He wins big on his hedge if the price tanks. In fact, he Mari even demand cash instead of stock to purposefully bankrupt the company, win big on his hedge and make some cash of the defaulted bonds in the liquidation. It's a very good trade.
