A decent commute becomes a lot longer when traffic is involved. When it comes to driving, everyone seems to have their limit. The average American commutes at least 25 minutes to work, which doesn't seem too bad in the grand scheme of things, kek

>Icebreaker: How long is your commute and what is it like?
15ish minutes. There's a highway on-ramp near my apartment, but not an off-ramp. Thus, on the way to work it's a straight shot, on the way back it's via small neighborhood roads (which is more sane during rush hours).

It's usually only 10-15 minutes. School just started today in the area so the buses and kids go full retard so it took me 25 minutes to get to work cuz i ran into a bunch of bus stops. I'll have to change my route to avoid them. It's pretty comfy though, I go opposite of rush hour traffic north of Boston so I'm not sitting in traffic

And of course it waits until you head home from work to start down-pouring like mad so you can't see the road, and it will immediately calm down as soon as you get home. This happened to me yesterday.

My commute is 5 minutes. There's a faster way, but it involves making a left turn with no traffic light on a 2 lane street. But the route I take has an intersection right next to a low visibility corner where people go 40 mph in a 25 even though there's fukken speed tables everywhere. And sometimes if I'm running late, I'm just in time to get fucked by a schoolbus, but whatever

I haven't fucked in 4 years. I first started seeing this smoking hot older girl come in to pick up food maybe a few months ago, and she's always super friendly and not wearing underwear and you can see her hard nipples poking out and the form of her ass and thighs. She tips me and I bark at her to say thanks (old tradition in our store, usually the cashier calls out the tip and the cooks bark but she usually comes in at a time that I have no cashier) and she always gives a cute laugh. Yesterday immediately after telling me what she was picking up (someone else took her phone call) she bent forwards and looked down with a loose shirt on and I could see her cleavage pretty good but didn't get to see any nipples. When I went and grabbed her food and came back a customer came in and tried to get her attention and she gave him the cold shoulder pretty blatantly. I can't stop thinking about her

Ive been looking for a nice place to have a homestead and dreaming about it while working. I have to drive and sit in traffic for long periods of time for my job so I have a lot of time to wander.

I periodically check the small newspapers when I go to different counties for my job. I usually call the private dealers with 4 acres or less and ask them for how much down payment they'd be okay with in exchange for 9% interest.

I found some old man willing to do it for a reasonable downpayment. Turns out he has no family and just got gout so he wants to move to the city and shit.

I checked the land, its agriculture/residential so I can grow shit on it. It's fucking 90% flat and it has a well. The internet is 50 mbps for 100 bucks (lol north canada) and I think I can I might pull the trigger. This might be a stupid fucking turning point and im stupid and young.

I never thought id get a good deal but after calling 50+ people for fun just to ask what down payment I guess I hoped that I'd get lucky.

I've been sitting here planning this out and I havent slept and I have to start working in 2 hours. FUCK

Go out on a limb. I was in the same position for both of you at one point after graduating college in 2013. I had enough. Took a risk a moved to Midland, Texas to work in oil. They currently have 22& of the world's producing drilling rigs. Not going to get into the political side, but Trump is letting the US oil industry loose.

There are more jobs than they can fill. The oil companies in Midland are literally hiring on the spot. They are so desperate they are giving signing bonuses, offering daily per diem, and housing assistance.

We have ex-criminals, recent divorced men, recent graduates who aren't going to use their degree making 100k+. Met one guy who is a complete retard making 86k by laying pipes in the ground with no real world work experience.

The work sucks, but if you can endure the ramp up for about a year, you can move into other positions. You can land "office jobs" with these companies, but they tend to hire from within for those, but if you're smart and look presentable and make it apparent you just want to make money with a strong work ethic, you're in.

Don't be afraid of changing pace. You can get an entry level job making 80k per year starting, with two weeks on - two weeks off. So, you are making 80k your first year only working 6 months in that year.

Grind it out, clear your debt, save a shit and of money (Texas doesn't have federal income tax) over 2-3 years if you don't want to make it a career and you will be able to buy a house if you wish.

Food for thought.

Leave my flat.
Walk three minutes.
Enter the bus.
Leave bus after ~23 minutes.
Arrive at office two minutes later.

It is quite okay. The kids riding the bus with me are well behaving (even though not always quiet) and while driving I read a book or the news on my mobile or watch a video.

Also my job (business analyst) is not so much of a rush and well paid. But hey... after living through about 10 years of being basically a hobo, I think I at least deserved this much.

Question. My temp period is coming to an end and I'm up for perm hire. Assuming they dont' take the chance to fire me before having to pay bennies (someone else is leaving and I'm taking over their job in addition to my own...yeah), also assuming I have 6 months total experience in this type of role so I'm pretty entry level, do you htink I can leverage for either a pay raise or work from home days? Honestly I want to blow my brains out, we're in cubicles for 9 hours straight (half day friday) and I'm miserable and anxious the whole time. If I could work from home like 1-2 days a week I'd be much happier. How the fuck do I negotiate this kind of shit?
I don't give a fuck about certain bennies like 401k (I have specific reasons), but if I don't get work from home days I'd rather quit, the job is incredibly boring. What do?

Trains are the most comfy way to commute. My daily adventure:

>30 minute train ride
I play chess on my phone or talk to other train people.
>4 mile (15 minutes) bike ride
Sometimes I take the scenic route around a lake if I feel like riding more and working less.
>Show up to work and listen to everyone else crying about the traffic on I-4

I actually look forward to my commute. Riding bikes is fun and the train is chill. Plus, I'm saving over $5,000 per year by doing this as opposed to driving like a pleb.

I basically get all the applicants who aren't the top of the line (the research lab gets all of them) who are still relatively competent. I just organize their schedules and tell them what to make so that the manufacturing team has the chemicals they need to make our product.

Yesterday I spent six hours giving new employees from various departments safety training, which I do for a small bonus and because it's really easy.
