Selling equity in the company to allow for large reinvestment now is generally better in the long run than just reinvesting excess cash flow. Also, the partner doesn't have to be silent. However, the process for getting work visas for foreigners is an immense bureaucratic nightmare, so unless they have very useful skills, the investor is better off in a silent position.
