Both are wrong.

You cannot draw a tighly interwoven network like LN in 2D without paths crossing.

Left picture: Why should there be a central hub? Hubs can absolutely connect to many other hubs. Users too, but bcashies are too dumb to understand that.

Right: No lines cross each other. Completely unrealistic. Why should nodes already close to each other open channels to nodes that are close to the channels that they already connect well to? It's much more reasonable to do this randomly, or to choose a node that's hard to route to, i.e. far away.

But this picture has haunted r/btc forever, so it's no wonder that idiots continue to use it...
