Bonds are not "high". Zoom out. While yields are low, they are safe. The equities are running out of steam. This last pumping was all from emerging market money trying to find shelter from the shit crashing around them. They will flee US equities now since we are topped off for awhile. comfy, if youre trying to long vol w options, do it w $VIX calls (ie type in $VIX with the "$" in front). atleast then, if vol doesnt go up, you wont get raped due to leveraged ETF bullshittery. theyre a little more expensive, but absolutely the best way to hedge against vol spikes imo. short vol is what you wanna do on those ETFs like UVXY VXX.

like im long vol now, so i bought some $VIX calls earlier, sold one on that spike, and then bought some VXX puts after i sold off one of my VIX calls. i covered my vol short for today, and now i still have another call on the $VIX. the only thing you have to worry about is theta, but thats ok/negligable if you go ITM

PDT is a SEC rule. if you roundtrip buy and sell the same security on the same day, its daytrading. if you are under 25k, and get labeled PDT, you cannot trade on margins till you deposit the difference up to 25k. cash accounts can (this is what i do). however daytrading is very risky and not for beginners.

what you should do is (if youre just looking for quick trades) buy (or short or whatever) on the closing bell, and flip it the next day on open, or on the AM pop or whatever (i did this w GBR today for 25%). just bear in mind that if it gaps against you, youre pretty much in the situation daytraders are, where you either have to cut your losses, or HODL

if youre long and trying this, look for things where institutional money is gapping it up every night. if youre short, do the same thing. you can almost ignore what happens during the day. all the real gains are to be had AH.
>pic related
gray line is what you would have as a RoI if you bought at close bell and sold at open bell every day since 92 or whenever it was. the red line is if you bought in the morning at bell and sold at night.

the reason is that institutional money uses too large positions to trade on market hours, it would be chaos if they did that. so they buy and sell after hours.
like i said, look for stocks that gap up frquently, wait for a dip, and try what i said. the daytime hours are mostly for dumping on retails head

DESU, I cant say that I know much about economics but I can speculate that if the trade tariffs are put in place, the prices of things like Apple Products and Nike will skyrocket, followed by a plunge in their stock. Soon after, companies like that, thought I cant say which, will probably "rebrand" themselves as all American and their stock will rise back up to a little less than before the tariffs were added. If you want to make money off of it, Id say take your guess as to which one would relocated manufacturing to America, and ignore the ones that will just wait until the tariffs are removed.

401k & Roth IRAs are usually pretty heavily invested in the stock market. If you know what you're doing you can also do a "self-managed" 401k where you decide which funds / stocks / etfs / etc your money is invested into. But if you start now you have to promise yourself when the market takes a huge down turn you will keep throwing money into it.
I started at like 21 on prevailing wage jobs in construction where they have to put money into a retirement account for you, per law. I just had it in a target date retirement fund and left it (this was through the 2008 crash) and so now im here today and ive made about 10k off of 70k.
They call it dollar cost averaging, put the same amount in every month into stocks you prefer or just buy indices. But you have to put money in even when the news is screaming its the end of the world.
Alot of people on here will stay out of the market until a huge dip then buy up the rest. This is a good idea also but Trumps economy is going good so far, so you could be missing years of gains with that attitude.

I enlisted in the air force at 21. Got out at 25. I got my Top Secret clearance and had a job that's lucrative on the outside called Cyber Transport. Basically a network admin. I knocked out a lot of cisco certifications while I was in and had a decent amount of companies wantinh me by the time my enlistment was over.

So can't really help cause my experience wasn't a traditional lath, I'm sorry friend :(

It's different from standard tech work, yeah, but that's to your advantage. Offer to double up as a team lead/ scrum master or work with product to help generate estimates, make plans, and organize the backlog. This is stuff a lot of engineers are not great at so it's a big value add. Also good organization translates well into good communication (especially to non techies) which is the most valuable and underrated skill in an engineer. Put In effort during slack time, help without being asked/ asking, whatever. If you can independently identify a business problem (Not just a tech issue) and bring a solution/ plan forward that's huge. The key is that you have to make sure your extra work gets noticed by higher ups without seeming like you're grubbing for gold stars

WASHINGTON--The Trump administration is preparing to apply additional tariffs on up to $200 billion in imports from China—a move seen as a response to China’s retaliation to an initial round of U.S. tariffs applied last week, according to people familiar with the matter.

The new tariffs follow moves by Washington to apply tariffs on an initial $50 billion in imports, $34 billion of which were announced last week.

Think about it like this: Eventually, you'll be 60 and the 401k is the best, tax-advantaged, way to save for that time so its best to take advantage. Your 401k is old person money. That's why you finance both a 401k and a taxable account. Your IRA, on the other hand, can be accessed much before you are 60. Look up the Roth IRA ladder. And taxable accounts can be accessed any time, but obviously there's no tax advantage there.

Recently they've been allowing western culture in to leverage consumerism as indirect population control. The top layers of society have a lot more to lose now as a result since they've been grafting the fuck out of it. When looking at the country as a whole/ individual average citizens, we have more to lose. But chinks would take a huge blow to their public face which is the worst thing ever for them, and the hit would be felt very much at the upper class (lots to lose, and the poor ain't got shit there) whereas here the hit would be amortized over lower and middle class. They had like three buyout offers, one recently. Ted is a greedy whore and he has a history of throwing his shareholders under the bus for personal profit and working with Pajeets. The most likely scenario is they dilute shares (which they refer to as a line of credit) and reverse split to create capitol to run their company for a year or two. If it survives being drug through the mud and its MANY competitors the people who buy in a year will make money, but current holders will not. Only three scenarios yield profit for people with bags.

1. Buyout: based on their subscriber base and previous offers they could get 1-2 dollars a share.
2. Restructuring their payment structure aggressively: Their current marketing depends on their stupid low prices but if they survived the flak and losing some subs it would salvage the company, but slow potential long term growth.
3. Their so called "alternative profit stream" from ads, deals with theaters, business acquisition, and movie production would need to start making 8 times what it was last quarter.

When you get down to it their cash burn without someone with deep pockets to back them will destroy them. Netflix could afford to lose money for ten years because they had deep coffers, this shits don't and they will use share holder money to solve that problem in the short term if they have too. All in all, if I had to pull a number straight from my ass, I would say 5% chance baggies don't get wrecked. I have shares btw.
