Okay guys, I'll try to make this as brief as possible and provide as many links as I can (no pun intended) for you guys to search through and evaluate.

I was on wayback machine, which archives webpages from the past, when I can along a strange page on smartcontract.com's sitemap: https://web.archive.org/web/20171004082719/http://smartcontract.com:80/link-copy-4 archived here from Oct 4, 2017. If you scroll down, you'll notice they're discussing a different token sale, for something called "Tierion Network" (see pic related), that uses a process called "anchoring" to link data to a blockchain, creating a timestamp that verifies the integrity of a piece of data. Here are more links to their pages:

>https://tokensale.tierion.com/ - token sale page, looks identical to smartcontract.com's page, down to the % allocations for the token sale
>https://tierion.com/ - main website, with their two products, 'Proof' and 'Chainpoint' (notice how Chainpoint & Chainlink's rebrand look identical)
>https://chainpoint.org/ - Chainpoint's main website
>https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/tierion/ - their token on CMC

My theory: Chainlink is going to use their oracle network in conjunction with Chainpoint's data-verification network to operate. I think they were originally going to only have a single ICO, but decided against it for some unknown reason.

Think about the implications of this... the "decentralized oracles for centralized data feeds" argument is completely BTFO. We're actually going to have a completely trustless oracle network with completely trustless data flowing through it. Strap. The Fuck. In.

Try a pool cleaner vacuum while underwater, especially with a heated pool, it will give you the best orgasm of your entire life.

The fans rapidly but gently smack the head of your dick while giving really strong suction.

Obviously stick your fingers in first to make sure it's safe, not every pool vacuum is the same.

I've had blowjobs from 3 different women and 4 different men, I've used vacuums, cock-pumps, fleshlights, vibrators... and NOTHING compares to the pool cleaner.

I'm not even fucking kidding right now, if you get the chance, try it.

The only thing that is even remotely close to how good that pool vacuum felt was straight up vaginal sex with this fat chick who had a really warm snatch, it was like sticking my dick into a wet loaf of banana bread straight out of the oven, and yes this fucking pool cleaner vacuum was better than that.

I don't own a pool or else I'd be doing it every day.

Unfortunately the owner of the pool caught me doing it so I'm not allowed to be within 1000 feet of his house anymore but it was so fucking worth it, I'm telling you that fucking pool vacuum is like heaven.

Honestly the only reason I even want to make it is so I can afford my own house with a heated pool and of course a pool vacuum.

I can't wait to buy a dozen different brands and styles of pool cleaners and fuck them all.

I live for that day to come.

The moment you solve the oracle problem, which I'm sure chainlink will do, you are essentially moving the goal post and moving the single point of failure further back.

How do you get api into the chainlink network? Sensors that provide api cannot be decentralized to the extent chain link nodes are decentralized. Sure you can have competing companies provide their own sensors and multiple different sensors can send the real world data to the contract, BUT that's not decentralized enough and much more susceptible to a 51% attack.

>Inb4 read the white paper and learn about link tokenomics
I already did.
This encourages people staking their link in their nodes to find a good data provider so that your nodes retain good reputation.
Let say that company x provides consistent correct data. You, as a node runner, are incentivized to get data from company X (see passive income).

Suppose you stake 1000k worth of link in the node as collateral for a high end contract by company X. There is always a possibility of bad actors colluding and perhaps interfere with the development of sensors (let say add a backdoor). And during this critical moment, multiple different sensors provided the incorrect data onto the contract. You just lost the 1000k worth of link you staked as collateral.

Even if the company is financially invested in sending the correct data to the contract, it only takes a few bad actors for this to happen.

Solving the oracle problem is NOT ENOUGH for smart contracts to be adopted by mega corps who literally put billions on the line.

> if bloomberg wants to offer data to a contract he could do it himself without outsourcing node running. So why would it benefit from sabotaging himself?
Good point but significantly limits the number of use cases for smartcontracts. And also if every big corp ran their own node, who would use the nodes ran by us neets?

My estimate is 10usd max per token by 2022.

Refute this

The pure delusion. You retards actually think you have fundamentally analyized link and are some sort of elite investor. You know about link because its been shilled to fucking death on this shitty board with terrible infographics and extremely far reaching claims with no evidence. I guarantee none of you have actually even tried to use the testnet or have even considered the token economics at play here. The testnet is a peice of trash centralized (it uses one source) API scraper that uploads data into a non self executable smart contract. A fifteen year old could write the code to do this, it tests nothing envsioned in the whitepaper. Now for the token economics 35% of the total supply is in the hands of Sergey himself. The top 100 wallets control 85% of the supply of this coin. Your investment can be quite literally wiped out overnight without a moments notice. Going all into this project is probably one of the stupidest things you can do with your money but retards like you keep lining up thinking you are the next Warren Buffet. Chainlink is so far from a sure thing.

I bought link because i dont see how smart contracts can have any value if they can not communicate with real world data feeds. I do not understand how any of this will end up changing the world if we can not take it beyond tokenization.

but then i read this:

Don't be deluded. TNT was a cash grab just like BNT, SNT, KIN, and so many others. In fact, the scariest part is that tierion has foreshadowed exactly what will happen if Link doesn't deliver a perfect mainnet offering. TNT deployed a network with flawed incentives and look what happened. You get one shot at mainnet. It's honestly worth it for the SC team to take full advantage of the head start they have and deploy only when their offering is impeccable, regardless of how many years it takes to get there.

Not untrue but the vast majority of that are exchange wallets & 35% of it are the 350MM tokens not in circulation... so this is kind of a retarded point. Each exchange wallet probably literally has thousands to tens of thousands of wallets holding LINK.

I love how BCH is backed by Satoshi too as it is his true vision as per the white paper!

BCH is the new paradigm!!

I’ll buy BCH and go long forever and everrr ;)

I’ve been buying BCH this whole time

I’ve been teaching others and I’ve gotten my neighbors and coworkers into buying BCH and we are all making a lot of money together.

I’m really popular now among my friends because I’m making so much money with BCH since the airdrop. A lot of my friends are making tons of money off of BCH and we’re going to make a lot more!

I can’t wait to get my own miner from vitamin so I can help mine BCH but until then I’ll just invite people to my house to buy BCH and I’ll also buy BCH in my car.

Buying BCH is the best guaranteed way to make money!

Chainlinks not attempting to solve secure sensors. Supply chain projects like ven and amb are trying to do that. Even though Chainlinks trying to be a generalist solution for off chain data, I don't think they'll make much progress on supply chain solutions. I see the use mainly for digital and tokenized assets. Although there will probably be use with sensory data and some combination of cryptographic proofs and reputation systems.

Generally speaking, chainlink is not trying to create tamper proof APIs. They're trying to secure the stages when contracts call and send data, e.g when payment conditions are fulfilled and sending out those payments to something like swift.

I don't actually know if anything I said is correct. Anybody else want to chime in?

Yeah, pretty much. But there's a possibility one of the supply chain projects will come out with magic tamper proof sensors. The point is that it's not enough if Link works or not. If it works, great, but you still have a fuckton of other things that can't work (or require a 180 degrees shift in the paradigm) to make link valuable. That's the issue that anon raised and nobody addressed it because it ruins the 1000$ EOY wishful thinking and "muh link will disrupt entire industries" meme.

There are industries that Link could THEORETICALLY disrupt and give it a huge value, but those industries have a monopoly and don't need/want/can't be disrupted. And this isn't one of those scenarios where the better tech prevails cause normies adopt it or demand it.

There's a higher chance that link will be used for hobby projects by neckbeards in their garages than by SWIFT or Bloomberg.

there is stupid LINK fud like this oldfag brainlet with his BS and there are real concerns
For us to see gains in our pockets so many things have to go right. I have confidence in CL as an idea, project and the team but they need functional and scalable blockchains, ethereum gets congested with some stupid dapps and vitalik would rather do badger dance than fix this shit,
and I know what you're gonna say
>hurr durr LINK is blockchain agnostic he he other blockchains are probably not even functional yet and even once they are (God knows when that may be) they probably won't be secure/decentraized enough for any serious players to trust them with their money. It feels like Sergey decided to create an engine before people even knew how to build the chassis.

I know that the tokens themselves can be send in batches but isn't evrery API call (updating the smart contract) congesting the network too?
Have there been any stress tests done?
Are permissioned blockchains like Hyperledger gonna even need decentraized oracles when they themselves aren't really decentraized?

Like I said it's all such a complex framework with so many elements to go right that it's not a sure thing for me even tho CL itself is the element I'm the most confident about.
Even if all this stuff works then we still don't really know what is the demand gonna be
there is many working dapps right now that nobody really gives a fuck therefore the tokens are worthless

we are betting on:
>ethereum/other blockchain success
>CL success
>adoption

and now imagine some people just bought btc early enough to become multimillionaires without giving a fuck whether it scales or not

>Are permissioned blockchains like Hyperledger gonna even need decentraized oracles when they themselves aren't really decentraized?

This is actually one of the most legit points being brought up on /biz/ and it's cause of concern not only for Link, but most blockchain projects that hope to get enterprise adoption. I actually fear that Hyperledger will BTFO many projects, not because it is better, but because it will become an industry standard. The fucking Australian government just paid IBM $700 million for this shit.

>tfw when blockchains' biggest enemy is the pseudo-decentralized blockchain and it will take 10 years for the real decentralized blockchains to get adoption.

Another anon made a good analogy a few days ago. It's like in the early days of internet where companies didn't think the internet was secure enough and they used only intranets. I think we'll go through a similar cycle in crypto and the golden bullrun will be delayed for another decade.

The only thing that still makes me hold my LINK bags is that hopefully Sergey knows all of this, he's been in the space long enough to know all its limitations but unfortunately they seem to be focused solely on Ethereum nowadays, they used to have centralized oracles for btc eth and hyperledger, now they deleted them from their website I believe

5000TNT for a node, 1500TNT reward. When a node gets a reward it goes to back of the line, so if you pass audits, rewards are guaranteed.
Also, you should check companies already using this service, Dell is just one of them.
Of course retards here are not interested in actual working projects, they dream of scamming others to get rich quick. Stay poor.

a global worldwide blockchain is just what LINK holders should want. i dont even think smartcontracts can work without an agreed upon central blockchain to handle the contracts.

the notion of decentralistion = good, centtalisation = bad is false. real world companies need some level of security and stability, and with that goes government recognition. LINK is a grown-up project, not some bullshit cyberpunk manifesto garbage.

BCH is literally the new paradigm in crypto

I’m going to spread this on twitter, facebook, youtube everything everywhere

Everywhere and everyone will be buying and using BCH

BCH will go over 9000! Everyone will be using it and transactions will be so fast and cheap.

Did you not hear that everyone is buying and using BCH now?

Omg like BCH is brilliant!

Lets buy BCH and HODL forever

You didn’t think BCH could be stopped did (((you)))?

Didn’t you hear?

We will have 10 trillion market cap within the next year!

Buying BCH is the best way to success!!

I’m writing a book on BCH

BCH long foreverrrrrr and everrrre!!!!!

Hey do you like BCH and making money?

Because I like LOVE bch!

Omg I love BCH so much!

I like talking about BCH and how fast and cheap transactions are. It is the real bitcoin. Roger Ver is brilliant and Craig Wright is Satoshi.

>Are permissioned blockchains like Hyperledger gonna even need decentraized oracles when they themselves aren't really decentralized?

Yes. A permissioned blockchain would have all different businesses that need to form agreements with each other, these businesses don't necessarily trust each other. They're using a blockchain/dlt to aid form trust with agreed governance, transparency and privacy. As the client, if you relied on a centralised oracle that the shipping company ran, then you'd be wary to whether they're actually providing the right data or lying for their own financial gain. A permissioned blockchain will likely be run by multiple entities — think, for example of a bunch of different large companies all participating in a distributed ledger tracking supply chain. When they are getting data off chain (e.g. a weather report, or the official price of a commodity on a given day) they may not entirely trust each other and they will need an oracle they can trust. My hypothesis (although of course no one knows for sure) is that they will go use an established oracle, and that access to this oracle will be handled through chainlink.
There's a good explanation of this in the Solidus protocol paper. Solidus is an interesting project in itself too. It is likely that it uses Chainlink. Perfect usecase and it's also one of Ari Juels's projects.

The top 100 wallets control 85% of the supply of this coin and its not exchanges. Binance, the biggest exchange owns ~2% of total supply. Your investment can be quite literally wiped out overnight without a moments notice. surely amongst the awful lot of you there must be someone with advanced coding skill, that can chime on the code that makes up the chainlink network project up to this point. the code review that came out months ago was mostly positive and what negatives that were, were said by rory to be due to a lack of depth of review into the code. at this point, anyone that is actually not an idiot realizes there's a good chance that if the chainlink team can pull it off, it will be a success. perhaps even wildly successful. so the real question is, can the team pull it off. with only a very elementary understanding of coding, i can't make a judgement on it. this is really the only interesting chainlink discussion at this point, surely someone can shed some light.
