It's going to go back up to at least 4.60, you didn't believe me last time but theyre buying at 4.70 now so that guaranteed as soon as they start buying during the day there is a spike. The dip was because they stopped buying for the weekend.

I think that's actually something that I may do with my project. Determine the price at which something is a "strong buy" and just let the limit orders sit on a few dozen stocks for months.

Yeah, recessions don't last for more than a year or two... I recall news reports coming out within the last year saying "have we recovered yet?" or "are we out of the recession yet?" and I was like wtf? that ended a while ago. I don't like the whole "lost decade" term. It seems foolish.

Range trading was what I first learned to do. As far as why warrants are good I think it has to do with the low volume. My first system was to watch a stock for a week or so to find the top and bottom. Then I’d set my limit orders within that range. Wash rinse repeat.

Example would be if Stock A is trading between .25 and .28. Is set my limit but at .255 and my sell at .275. That part is important. If you set your orders to close it may not trigger a buy, especially if it’s low volume. I’d just keep doing it till the stock moved out of range. I think I was averaging 10% a week at one point but RH took away warrants before I had a chance to perfect it. It’s a hell of a lot harder with stocks. More volatile.

I personally am too impatient too hold dividend stocks, although once I accumulate enough wealth I plan to pretty much all in UNIT and get those sweet $2.40 annual dividends. I'm currently up hundreds of percents, but honestly it's been mostly blind luck and high risk ER option plays.

Basically what I did when I was actually trading crypto during the bullrun. I found a couple of low volume coins that went sideways a lot but made +-10% movements, and I bought the bottom and sold the top. I think there's a bit of a strategy for buying into dips -- don't do it all at once.
Maybe spend 1/3 when the price shocks you mid-day, maybe 1/3 more at EOD if you're very confident that it's a short mistake that the market it over-reacting to with emotional investing / doesn't impact bottom line / should pop right back up tomorrow, but at least reserve 1/3 for 1 week+ out if you think there's any chance it can go lower.
Once you're in all the way -- compare it to historical things that are similar for a benchmark and do NOT even consider options until you start looking at the dip in comparison to similar events and you start saying "this is ridiculous" (with FB, I was saying that at 20% down while looking at EFX's 33% down, which was a much, much bigger disaster)
If you DO touch options, shoot for ones that you think will still have 3 months time left on them when you finally can sell.
For options pricing, don't go deep OTM! It has to be a price that's completely reasonable for hitting on the recovery -- I shot for about halfway up from the bottom on FB.

When I decided to build my own db, I chose to use the IB api because IB was already my broker and I was already paying for the data I wanted. You will also need a very comfortable buffer for when recessions hit. Possibly comfortable enough so that you can actually retire and not micro-manage your investments.

But yes, you should target a growth beyond inflation, and then somehow make room for the income that you want.

I personally can't imagine this being anything even close to supplemental income for at least 5 years, unless I dump a chunk for a down payment on some real estate.
