Banker here

you probably have a shit apr too

what you can do is balance transfer to a card like discover or am ex

Then "lock away" that debt, pay off the rest of the card you have now STOP USING it, then tackle away the "locked up" debt over time. APR is what fucks people i have people come into my bank and send half their paychecks towards credit cards/

Yeah I just set up my robinhood account in the hopes I can rise some profits.

The problem is that I can't stop buying shit I don't need I'm seriously going to stop now, pay it off, and only use my debit card to buy shit.

cashback and other rewards for using cards sound cool but with a high limit you feel like you can buy anything

why would you spend more than you earn lmfao

why would you just keep racking up charges when you knew you wouldn't be able to pay them at the end of the month

you literally thought a credit card was free money and spent beyond your means. You have no one to blame but yourself.

Not who you replied to. What I can say is that the idea of life kicking you in the balls is really underestimated. Usually I toe the line of "what I can afford" and purchase on credit. For the vast majority of my life, I would be able to pay it off in a month or two and still be comfortable in life. However, after a series if unfortunate events my credit debt has spiraled. It's currently flatlining thank god.

You must be absolutely terrible with money.

Say you lose your job, burn through your savings in a couple months and still can't find anything new.

Your options here:

>Get a shitty job to pay the bills
>end your lease and move in with a gf/parents/friends
>get rid of your cell phone, cable TV, internet, etc
>stop eating out

Why you would just keep spending money you don't have is beyond me. I mean, I kind of get it, since that's what banks encourage you to do so that they can enslave you by debt, but come on. Think.

i dunno, maybe it was an emergency, maybe the car he needs to get to work broke down, maybe his dog got sick. things happen

I have job security which is why I took risks. And like I said, I already underestimated emergency situations. In the end, it seems like I'm marrying into money so, crisis averted. But for the rest of you biznessmen, the idea that you won't deal with emergency situations is a fallacy. Listen to those who say don't spend more than you make. It's not to keep you down but to prepare for the worst.
