Could another great inflation happen, akin to the one that happened to Germany after WWI?

From pic:

"Germans needed more and more money to buy even the most basic goods. For example, in Berlin a loaf of bread cost less than a mark in 1918, more than 160 marks in 1922, and some 200 billion marks by late 1923. People took wheelbar- rows full of money to buy food."

The way they resolved this conflict was essentially to create a new currency that was backed by gold, and in doing this they solved the problem almost immediately.

Could this happen again? Will this happen again? What will new currencies have to be tied to in order to fix this problem - gold...crypto?
