HISTORIC DAY EDITION

Popular brokers for stock trading:

Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers
>$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest. Free API access

TD Ameritade
>$6.95 commission per trade. No minimum to open. Fantastic data/charting through their free ThinkorSwim service

VZ and DIS. Bought at the 2 standard deviation low. They bounced HARD. I may need to take profits by the end of today since they are starting to reach the top 2 SD line already.

Worst play last week: Betting against TSLA. I like the ideas but I dont think these prices are sustainable. However this will teach me to buy naked puts out of the money. NEVER AGAIN.

>Even if one was the world's worst market timer over the past several decades, one still made money on stocks, according to an analysis done by institutional portfolio manager and financial writer Ben Carlson.

>He names his awful (or perhaps unlucky) investor "Bob." Bob made his first investment in the beginning of 1973, right before a 48 percent crash for the S&P 500. Bob then held onto stocks after the drop, saving a total of $46,000, and not getting up the gumption to commit more savings until September 1987—right before a 34 percent crash. Bob then continued to hold tight, making only two more investments before retirement, which came right before the 2000 crash and then the 2007 crash!

>So how did "Bob" do after these 42 years of epic market misfortune? Actually, he made money. As the market successively made record highs, Bob turned the $184,000 he invested over the years ($6,000 in 1973, $46,000 in 1987, $68,000 in 2000 and $64,000 in 2007) into $1.16 million—for a total profit of $980,000. That represents an annualized return of roughly 9 percent, on a money-weighted basis. Even after accounting for inflation, Bob has increased his wealth substantially by investing in stocks.

for making money it's obvious
for making progress or useful effort?

Is sports betting a useful cognitive activity?
It's similar to that but with slight house odds on the long side. Ultimately the cognitive effort, of which there is a lot, is mostly wasted on such a game.

To you it seems natural and good. The difference between a sports better or slots player is not effectively that much different than someone who plays stocks for 10 million dollars.

Obviously, you could reduce the cognitive effort used in stocks by changing the financial tools available. This would be a net benefit to a society.

It's not a big deal either way, but if you view trading as anything other than a useless pursuit with only output being money you are a retard.

Watch BZUN, and IQ closely and buy pullbacks, they both retreat by a few dollars after huge gains. I don't know enough about MOMO yet to suggest it. If you want to scalp chink stocks for 2 bucks a share just set stop losses and the second you get a message it was triggered buy back in after it drops for a bit. They always swing way too hard. Even the corrections require huge corrections.

Use market scanners. You can Google market scanner bullish reversal. You'll get a bunch of different options for the signals/indicators. Look at thecharts, pick one you like. Also if you're into moon missions, you might like trading bio and pharma. Looks at the sticky and go to the bio catalyst link for fda/pfda dates. Pretty all those stocks will climb as their date approaches and then either skyrocket or plummet to the ground
